Gerbs Ground Sunflower Seed Meal, 2 LBS - Top 14 Food Allergy Free & NON GMO - Vegan & Keto Safe – Cold Milled Full Oil Seed Protein Powder

I have been ordering Gerb's Pumpkin Seed Meal for about two years now and I love it! It is a great tasting plant-based protein powder that easily mixes in with smoothies. My other favorite company to get Pumpkin Seed Powder from is Sprout Living, so for the rest of this review, that is the main product I am comparing this against.This product has a much Stronger taste than that of Sprout Living, and to me almost tastes a little like peanut butter. It is also thicker and less thinly ground, so it doesn't mix as well into things like banana ice cream. However, as I said before it adds more of a flavor than you get when using a product like Sprout Living, but it isn't so strong that it is over powering, or even very noticeable when mixed into a smoothie with many ingredients.Gerb's pumpkin seed powder comes in a much bigger quantity for a similar price, but that is most likely because you need to use twice as much of it to get the same amount of protein. This is probably due to the fact that it is much less finely ground, or processed. This product used to come in one big bag (which I preferred) but lately have been coming in one big ziplock-style bag, with two smaller ones enclosed. This makes for easier storage in the refrigerator, but is annoying because the label and Daily Value amounts are only printed on the larger outside bag.One other frustrating thing about this product is that it doesn't come with a scoop (as opposed to Sprout Living which has one in every bag). While I acknowledge that this is most likely better for the environment, the use of three bags in the packaging of this product instead of one, makes me think that being environmentally friendly was not the aim of the company/manufacturer.All of that being said, I really do like this product and this company. I have read some negative reviews on a few of their other products, and just want to put it out there that I have never found anything gross in any of my products from Gerb's. And I have never had any trouble with receiving my products on time or intact.

I can't eat tree nuts (they give me migraines that don't respond to medication), so almond flour is out for me. I am on a doctor-ordered gluten-free diet, so have experimented with Paleo recipes with much success. I could not, however, make any of the baked goods because of the almond flour that is so prevalent in those recipes.For a while I made my own pumpkin seed flour but that was messy and time-consuming. At first I was apprehensive about the pumpkin seed meal but should not have been. It's delicious. Even my children (currently 15 months old and 7 years old) really like the pancakes and muffins I have made using the pumpkin seed meal. I am giving this five stars because it is such a good product and so nutritious.I have also used this as a coating on homemade chicken nuggets, and as one of the ingredients in n'oatmeal (Paleo oatmeal). So delicious and so healthy.For bakers: you will want to know that baked goods you make with the raw pumpkin seed meal will have a light green color--very light. Even when cookies, etc. are lightly browned on the top. This is not a problem, just a "nice to know." This will not be a problem when you bake a chocolate cake because the cocoa powder hides the color. Also, if you want to make a lighter cake, you will want to sift the pumpkin seed meal as occasionally there are larger pieces of pumpkin seed. Again, not a problem in my book, but definitely nice to know about ahead of time.I have purchased this product multiple times now and will definitely continue to purchase it in the future. Looked and smelled fresh coming out of the package. Very nicely ground. Used it for our dog and for our own smoothies. We put it in our fridge for storage!

I have been using this Ground sunflower seed meal in my smoothies and the occasional oatmeal bowl. I have yet to bake with it, but I imagine it can be swapped in for something, or simply added in with minor liquid adjustments. Might be good as a veg burger binder or for making a pizza crust of the sort. Or as a coating for chicken or pork. But I am enjoying it in my smoothies too much at the moment to give it a go in anything else. I thought it would have a stronger taste, but it is kind of neutral tasting to me. Maybe my tastebuds are broken.Meets my expectations. I would consider it again.

I use the 5 seed mix to add to my protein shakes. I like the additional protein sources and nutrients this product provides. I really like the hemp and chia for healthy fats and omegas. I am happy with the taste and quality. It came sealed and fresh. Use proper storage or use quickly to keep fresh and good. It is ground / powdered but not very fine. It will not dissolve into your drink but will mix into it suspension. It is also very good addition for cooking but I use it to help with weigh management and added nutrition in meal replacement shakes. I will re order.

This is used just like you would use flour l. It's good for Keto and doesn't change flavors. Good price, value and flavor

I purchased this for my foster kittens who had upset stomachs and it helped firm up their stool perfectly. It mixed into their food well and did what I hoped it would do.

First time having pumpkin seed meal, I don’t eat gluten so this was perfect for my recipe. I used it to make bread, and it was amazing. I’ll definitely be ordering more.
