Beautiful leather and tight elastic band
This is a beautifully made pen holder with STRONG elastic. In fact, the elastic is so strong that one has to be careful when putting it in place so as not to bend soft covers (as my drawing pads have). Slip it carefully onto just the front cover; don't try to put it around the whole book. This feels great to the touch and holds the drawing pen/pencil very well. The attached photo shows the comparative size of the small, large (middle) and extra large sizes, the small and large around my Leda drawing pads.

SERIOUS flaws (should be for Mini Pens/Pencils WITH CLIP) only
This product has 2 design flaws:(1.) the bottom isn't covered -- so pens/pencils without clips will just fall out. The manufacturer should include a kevlar laced bottom layer, if they are worried about holes puncturing the leather, because better the leather than my leg getting poked or a hole in my pocket! Normal sized pencils will STAB you and put holes in your pockets, when clipped on, because they are longer than the 5.5 inch moleskine notebook. That's not an issue for the taller moleskines, but this holder needs a REDESIGN to protect the users legs/pockets from puncture, when in pocket.(2.) In THIS VERSION there should be no cut out at the top. The height is too short as it is for pencils, so you want them to clip high. They have a cut out at the top so that the eraser side sits low, fine if we're talking about tall notebooks. But for 5.5!~ inch notebooks, thats shorter than the average length of a pencil, so this cut away at the top just forces the pencil to stick out EVEN LOWER and stab you even MORE. This is stupid because the stabby part of the pencil/'pen gets caught in the pocket when you put it in your pocket. It hooks onto your inner pocket and can puncture your pocket, make it difficult/impossible to slide into your pocket, or stab you in the leg. Stupid design flaw.Furthermore, I needed to buy a Mini mechanical pencil just to use this thing, because of the issues I mentioned. But a good one costs $5-10 bucks. So, hey, QUIVER, why dont you just fix these problems and charge $5-10 more, so that I can use ANY pencil without worrying about getting stabbed or worrying about my pencil falling out?? Common sense. This QUIVER fits the moleskine classic pocket 5.5 inch notebook best. There is one other version from Quiver, which sits on the spine of the notebook but it makes the notebook wider, so its harder to slip into your pocket, and attaches on both sides, making your notebook fatter too. Overall, the other one looks nicer, but is less convenient. This current version only attached on one side, and slips into the pocket nicely, despite supporting 2 pencils!! The other version only supports 1 pencil.Quiver needs to fix the serious issues related to their 6 inch and below quiver products -- over 6 inch, it doesn't matter, because the pencil will be shorter than the notebook. But under 6 inch, then the pencil sticks out and stabs you, gets caught in your pocket lining as you insert it into your pocket, or puts a hole in your pocket. Not good. On these smaller ones, include a BOTTOM and dont cut away at the top -- Quiver, if you do those 2 things, you will have a perfect product for pocket notebooks of this size.I had to buy a Mini mechanical pencil to use this quiver properly without stabbing myself each time. The Pilot Mini Mechanical Pencil Couleur works perfectly. Its clip is located probably, as well, not to come off, being attached to the pencil body. But this was extra cost of $10. And Im an artist who hates to use my not favorite pencil. Minis are hard to hold because theyre too thin. For the larger size Quiver products, Im sure these arent issues -- but every artist, who always carries a Moleskine in their pocket, like me, will understand how upsetting it is to have to use a new pencil and how these little things matter a LOT.

Lays perfectly flat after just a few months of use. Started very flat but not perfect. Now, it's perfectly flat.
It's not perfectly flat at the beginning, but I don't mind pressing the book open with my other hand. At the beginning of a hardcover notebook, the pages don't lay flat anyway even if the cover does. In the middle of the notebook is where it is less flat, but I have two hands. It's not an issue. It holds my pen. It looks nice on my Leuchtturm. It will probably soften with age.HERE'S MY EDIT:I've used this now for a few months - from whenever I first reviewed. It lays perfectly flat. I love it. I love always having my pen. I use a pigma micron. I don't put the clip of the pen on the outside of the Quiver. The pen stays safely inside and doesn't pop my pen top off since I don't put the clip over the Quiver. I also really like that it's called "quiver" because I feel like my pen and I have important things to slay in this world.

Love it with flaws
Ok to start with I do love this pen holder, but it does have its flaws which would be really easy to fix from a manufacturer stand point. First the good the material and craftsman are excellent the red stitching against the black leather looks Sophisticated and the idea of the pen holder is great. However like other reviewers have pointed out the elastic band on the back that wraps around the front cover is to tight and bows the cover upwards. I use a Rhodia web book notebook. I also use a Code & Quill notebook and it fits perfectly although the Code &Quill is smaller then the Rhodia. The other problem is that if you use bigger pens the double pocket becomes extremely tight (I have 2 Lamy Al stars in mine) and its hard to remove my pens however if you use thinner pens they will fit perfectly. All the manufacturer would have to do is make the elastic a little loser in the back and the pocket a tad bit bigger and they would have a 5 star product.so you are probably wondering why I gave it 4 stars it’s because I do Appreciate the craftsmanship And quality of the penholder and I do use it everyday. What I did was put a piece of wood in the middle of the elastic strap and just carry it like a pen case because it makes Carrying 2 pens a lot easier then just Jamming them in my pocket

Works well - but couple of points - (1) Make sure that the fit is tight - i had a rotring 600 and another pen in it and the rotring fell out when i was walking with the book (2) The leather wraps over the cover. When you open up the notebook flat to write - the left page will cover the leather and this creates an uneven surface as the thickenss of the leather creates bumps on the left page and make it hard to write

Too short, does not fit an A6 notebook
Seems like a good quality product - however, as it does not fit my A6 notebook I cannot give it more than one star = it's simply not fit for purpose.I would have had to bend and damage the cover of my notebook just to get this on!! I'd say it's a good centimeter or two too short.

Very nice product.
Perfect. My husband was delighted. He is a confirmed moleskine aficionado and a difficult man to buy presents for, but this did the trick. It's simple but nicely made and fits well on the moleskine. Actually I bought the size that should fit vertically on a smaller (A5ish) notebook, but he prefers to use it on his larger (A4ish) moleskine horizontally, which holds the notebook shut. Really nice product. Fits two Cross pens snugly side by side without rubbing unduly against one another.

Great little gift
Bought as a present and the recipient loves it. It makes a simple moleskin book look like a very much more expensive item and can be slipped onto new books as needed. I'm also sure that being leather it will wear to a lovely patina with time.

Very good product.
I love this product. Only loses a star as the thread started to come loose almost immediately and now has come away entirely. Doesn’t seem to affect the use of it though so it’s still going strong.
