More robust than I expected for a paperback
I bought this not realising it was paperback, expecting it to be hardback (my mistake). However the pages are actually quite thick and have withstood well being handled by my just-under 2 year old. Its a nice progression from board books towards more 'grown up' paper story books in that respect. The story is also good, my son doesn't listen to long stories so the short words and flap actions hold his attention perfectly. Spot is a good role model for being an older brother as he thinks Susie is fun even after she runs off with his bone! The illustrations are lovely and Susie is particularly cute, which makes it enjoyable for me to read.

Lovely book
Lovely story and my 2.5 year old loves it, even though it’s pretty basic. It’s definitely helped her understanding of the impending arrival of her own baby sister. Only thing is Spot calls his parents ‘Mum’ and ‘Dad’ in it, which our daughter has now copied and won’t now call us Mummy and Daddy! :-( So i recommend changing it when you read it out!!

Great story
Bought this in the run up to birth of baby sister for our grandson. He loved it so much and now loves his real 'baby sister'.

Lovely lift the flap story with spot being nice to his new sister.
Lovely spot the dog book, our son (1.5years) loves it. Nice story with flaps to lift. We’re trying to get more stories with siblings / babies in as want our son to have a bit of understanding of being nice to a new sibling (new baby due soon) and this is just the right level for us. I’m sure other books maybe more educational for older children but it’s a nice story and spot interacts well with his new sibling throughout. Exactly what we are looking for at the moment.

It’s a nice book.. but..
It’s ok, my 2.5 yr old daughter enjoyed it.It’s colourful and has the usual lift up flaps. But - I felt it didn’t explain much about the arrival of a new sibling. It’s weird that a crocodile and a hippo arrived to play with spot, the dog...?Baby sister ‘susie’ and mum arrived but were under the stairs...For a book aimed at very young children it would be better to refer to mummy & daddy, rather than mum and dad.I think there are better books around to help a young child understand the impending new arrival of a sibling. But like someone else said, it’s a perfectly nice ‘lift the flap’ book.

Fun
We gave this book to our 2.5-year-old son a few days before the arrival of his baby sister. The book is simple, sweet and fun. "Spot, we have a surprise for you!" Open the flap, and then... "It's your baby sister! Her name is Susie." Not really an in-depth big brother book, but lots of fun. It definitely helped get my son excited about the new baby in those final days before she arrived.Along with this book, we gave our son a Fun with Spot: Spot Large Plush by Kids Preferred. When the new baby arrived, we also introduced a Fun with Spot: Spot Bean Bag By Kids Preferred -- this is just a small version of the big plush Spot, but we called it Susie, and my son got a HUGE kick out of Spot becoming a big brother just like him. We got him a "toy baby" as well, but this book and the two Spot toys made a much bigger impact. Just an idea for other expecting parents out there.
