I followed the instructions, 1/2 a liter of boiling water onto the sand crystals, THE PLASTIC JAR WAS CRACKED the mixture ran out !!!!!!, made in china again ! The box was undamaged so it must have left the manufactures in that state.Perhaps it would be a very good idea to highlight where products are made !

This set adds a magical twist to the DIY nightlight kits that are proliferating on Amazon at the moment. This one comes with what is again a pretty standard theme: unicorns, but upgrades it to another level of interactivity. As well as the usual decorative accessories (in this case, pink picket fence, plastic tree flocked with pink blossom, fairytale tower, a cluster of mushrooms, rainbow with clouds, and pink kyanite gravel, there is a large unpainted plaster unicorn head. It looks very plain next to all the rainbow-coloured plastic, but this is not the case for long, because also included you have a plastic measuring cup and “crystal powder”, along with instructions. Mix up the powder with boiling water, submerge the unicorn head into the resulting solution and leave it overnight, and the next day you will find it covered in glittering crystals! These can then be painted using the 5 x colours which are also included, along with brush and palette. And finally you can assemble your nightlight using all of the above. Also included are a wooden stirring stick, double-sided adhesive pad, string of battery-operated lights, and a “lantern jar” shaped like a clear orb on a wood-effect base. This is priced at £19.99 at time of review and it is a bit pricier than competing projects, but the educational and play value is much higher, and it will likewise result in a fun decorative item that children will enjoy for a long time once the construction is complete. Do keep in mind that younger children will need to be closely supervised with crystal solution and small parts.

It's a nice kit if you consider the experience of colouring the unicorn, other than that it’s not much to do for the little ones, maybe they attach the little accessories on the adhesive disc.The process of getting the crystals on the unicorn involves hot water, so it must be done by a grown-up.The kit is not so practical as doesn’t look like it is meant to be moved around, the plastic globe it is coming off easily, and the little accessories inside which supposed to be securely attached to the base are coming off. I made some changes to it, which can be used safely, I glued the plastic globe to the base, and I attached the light switcher externally.

Good DIY nightlight for creative chikdren. Crystal growing and unicorns make this a great gift with a practical product at end.
