I can't believe this is only $30!!
At least, that's what the price was at the time of this review. But anyway, this is quite an awesome sword! I'm not a sword aficionado or anything, but in my opinion this seems like a pretty high quality, actual sword. For anyone who doesn't know, Thranduil's sword is the Elven sword used by Thranduil in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. As for the photos, I was just trying to show the length of the sword next to a tape measure. And according to my measurement, the full length of the sword and handle combined is about 37 inches. And that seems about right considering that they say the length of the blade is 71 cm, or 28 inches. Because they are probably referring to just the blade length without the part that would be considered the handle. The only downside that I found would have to do with the mounting plaque. Well, maybe not the mounting plaque so much, as I think it's a matter of quality assurance. Because the plaque is actually pretty nice. The two sort of hook pieces that will hold the sword, come separated from the mounting plaque and need to be installed by the customer. Which is no big deal, as there's only two phillips screws that need to be screwed in. One for each of the two hook pieces, which were included of course. However, there was nothing included to finally affix the mounting plaque to the wall with. But, I think there was SUPPOSED to be, because I did get ONE of those plastic anchors that are usually used to mount stuff like this on the wall. I was just missing the 2nd plastic anchor and the two screws that would have went with the plastic anchors.I would usually dock a star for something like that, but this sword at this price is a rare find indeed. And I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is considering getting it. And besides, since they left out the mounting hardware for me and I noticed and said something about it? Maybe it won't be a issue for anyone else. But then again, maybe it still will be... But, here's to hoping.

Sharp & Coated In Dark Oil. Accurate Details. Decent Craftsmanship. Several Plaque Flaws.
We have many weapons, including fun, display weapons that reside in our home. From Tolkien lore, this is now our second bladed piece. Excitingly, the two pieces now look very lovely mounted nearby each other. When this arrived, the blade portion was wrapped separately from the mounting board, and for good reason: it was thickly coated in oil. So, when you unpack the blade, be sure to do so over a protected surface, as the oils that rub off the blade are dark in color. After taking several minutes to wipe down the blade, giving it a nice polish, we were thrilled to discover that this blade is actually quite sharp. Since I am not using this for cosplay and will absolutely use it for self-defense if necessary, I’m happy that I won’t even have to spend time sharpening it.In general, the details look positively lovely and charming. From what I can tell, every detail of this replica of Thranduil’s sword accurately matches the cinematic version. A minor flaw I noticed is that where the hilts joins the blade, as they are separate pieces of material, some glue peaks out, but I was able to scrape it off with a razor blade. In hand, this sword feels powerful, elegant, and well-balanced. It appears to be completely solid, and I’m sure it could do actual, serious damage. Yay!The mounting plaque was easy to install, and it holds the sword well, but it also carries most of the flaws of this order. The ornate decal was not centered perfectly whenever it was applied, which my OCD finds bothersome. Also, you’ll have to screw in the hooks that actually hold the sword. When we first attempted to execute this aspect of assembly, the included screw split to hook’s wood, so we had to glue the wood back together, clamping it during the process so that it would later remain strong. After repairing the wood, the hook functioned as intended. Thankfully, now that the sword is mounted high up, any asymmetry in the plaque’s decal is much less noticeable, and the display looks gorgeous overall.

Perfection!
At the price point for this sword I was expecting junk but when it arrived I was amazed to see that the sword was a replica of Thranduil's sword. The sword is so beautiful and a sight to see. It is weighted perfect, very sharp and the etching was perfect. My only issue was the cheap display stand.

I love it. Really nice for the price.
I know this is priced like one of those cheap flea market type swords, but this is surprisingly nice and really a lot heavier than I had expected it to be.I'm not sure the blade would hold an edge, but it's plenty sharp enough out of the box at the tip where you need to be careful if you're swinging it around because you could cut someone's hand if you were to poke them with it.It just looks great. The handle feels great in your hand and the balance of the sword is nice. I can't stress enough how much I'm impressed with the quality that you get for the price you pay for this sword. You really have to hold it in hand to appreciate it but if you have a fantasy fan or even a cosplayer that you know this would make an awesome, inexpensive gift.

Kinda bent
Wasn't a very straight blade, but it's also not that expensive.

Sharp, well-made, heavy-duty Thranduil sword (not for cosplay)
This sword exceeded my expectations for the price. It's super sharp so be careful handling it and around kids. The sword does arrive oiled likely to prevent rust. The details are pretty nice and etched although it's better in the handle than it is along the blade. The balance of the sword is nice. Can hold it nicely in one hand. The plaque looks nice but I felt like it was lacking quality especially in how it holds the sword. It's easy to assemble and mount to the wall, but it does not hold the sword securely in any manner. I'm actually afraid to mount this sword as I have small kids. And the last thing I want is a guest accidentally touch the sword and it flips over cutting someone. Overall, great steel Thranduil sword but look for better mounting options before putting it up.
