Excellent: Cleared Spurious Airbag Warning Light
After the battery malfunctioned in my VW Polo, the Airbag Warning Light on the dashboard stayed on. I didn't know if this was because of a genuine fault or because the on-board computers had stored a spurious fault code while running under a fluctuating supply voltage. I thought that if I could reset the warning, it would reappear if it was genuine but not if it was spurious. This device enabled me to clear the warning, which did not reappear, so this has saved me from an expensive service visit to a VW Main Dealer.

Intermittent connection to my 2017 Tiguan Mk2
Intermittent connection to my 2017 Tiguan Mk2. Exactly the same as the Ancel VD500 but with a storage case instead of a rubber sleeve. I had the same problem with the Ancel so bought this one not knowing it is an exact copy. Same manual only a name difference. I have retuned the item and will get something different next time. I had upgraded the software but no difference.

Hope it is more accurate than previous versions
Picked this up for review after some local wildlife decided to gnaw on my ABS cables resulting in expensive repair bills at the local garage.Previously I've used one to diagnose which cable was damaged and it was showing a fault with the wrong wheel and I couldn't find the damage visually. The garage did find it at some cost.Having two VWAudi Group vehicles, this works on both and should help me diagnose any future difficulties to see if I can repair them without a mechanic.Price is fair if it saves double that at the garage (the first repair with Skoda was £600!) so I really wish I'd had it then. Also updated the firmware easily using the included USB-mini B cable.

Works for VAG vehicles
Checked Tiguan with a couple of issues, glow plug and NOx sensor errors. These detected on another scanner. Picked both of these and cleared the engine warning light.Simple to use for a non professional and gives a reasonable indication of problems before getting a proper scanStill needs skill to interpret though, as the code may be related to the problem but not necessarily the root cause.Value for money is fair and it may avoid being ripped off by an unscrupulous dealerWorks for VW Audi etc, if you're into DIY brake work it will rewind the rear brakes. Personally I leave it to my local garage unless it's still in warranty, and the work is covered by the warranty...If you do your own servicing it will reset the service light tooJust a warning, don't leave it plugged in overnight unless you want a flat battery

Updated version of the V700...
An absolute must-have accessory for checking and clearing error codes, instead of having to rely on garages to do it for you at ridiculous prices. The cost of the scanner can pay for itself with just one cleared fault.Although they look identical, this is the latest 2023 'Elite' version (V007PLUS) of their popular V700 scanner (of which I'm already familiar), so the the enhancements are in the software and vehicle compatability, and will not be apparent just on appearance.Price-wise, there is very little difference between the 2 (apart from promos that appear occasionally), so given the choice, this is the one to go for.

Cracking items for VW mechanics
Nice little item, dead easy to use once you have located the SCART type socket to plug it into. The small screen is easy to read and the menus easy to navigate even with oily hands. Feels quite durable and comes in it’s own case. Could pay for itself many times over if used correctly as it not only gives fault codes but advice on resolution too. A great device for experienced mechanics.

Depends what you need it for, alternatives much cheaper
I've had an intermittent fault on my Skoda with the carbon catcher which triggers a fault code on the dash, I previously bought another code reader to check the issue and clear. For someone who just wants to check a code and reset/determine if garage support is needed then you may find alternative OBDII readers do the same job at a fraction of the cost (£21.99). I'm not sure what extra this offers as I'm no expert but it does the job, you just might not need any extra complexity and could save by buying an alternative
