Tray puzzles are the best for young children especially when playing on carpeted floors. I’ve watched the frustration mount when trying to put together puzzles on a soft surface and for every piece they try to put in place 5 others pop out of place when they press down, and the thinner the puzzle pieces the harder it is. With a tray puzzle they have the hard surface and border containment built in, and this puzzle is a nice thickness on top of that. No bending or breaking of pieces (unless they are determined to do that!).I also liked that the pieces are of varied shapes, not all the exact same square puzzle piece that requires a high degree of remembering the details of what the picture looked like to begin (since there is no box to go by) with and an intense focus on the picture to get it back together- this is when kids lose interest and leave it in the middle.And to make it even more fun (and leads to successful completion) some of the pieces are cut into fun shapes that they can recognize like cars or trains or animals, and they can also see where those shapes fit by the cut-out lines on the tray underneath. My grandson will do the puzzle over and over 5 or 6 times in one sitting, searching for those special pieces. This also makes it more likely they can be successful whether they are placing pieces by matching the shapes or by following the picture.I would definitely recommend these puzzles which come in a variety of pictures and piece numbers to accommodate different levels.

This ended up being a Christmas gift for my grandson and he loved it. He put it together numerous times and the puzzle is so colorful and very sturdy pieces.

Entertaining for a toddler, Puzzle shapes are also drawn on the backboard so it is great for beginners.

My son loves trains so I knew he would enjoy this puzzle. The pieces are unique shapes and not traditional. It has a tray to make it easier to put together. The tray is plain white put you can see the cut out shape of the pieces. Overall this is a nice puzzle.

Fun puzzle for 3-5 years old

It is a nice, colorful picture of many fire vehicles. 52 nicely shaped pieces that have outlines to place them on the board.

My 3 year old granddaughter loved the puzzle. She took it apart and put it back together several times on Easter. It kept her occupied while teaching.

My 4 year old was delighted to complete this colorful puzzle on his own. It’s a good puzzle for the money. We love the cheerful train picture!
