Great ferro rod striker!
Works great!! Only drawback is the hole for the cordage is small. Other than that it's a great product!!

Large enough to use
This was much bigger and easier to use than their other sized striker which was good but too small to hold

Works
Good size to keep on a lanyard with a RatMatch. Didn't know ceramic would create sparks from a ferro rod.

Works well; won't last quite forever
I am a little mixed on these... Here's why:First, they DO work, and they work well! I got about 3x the sparks from a ferro rod compared to using a steel striker. So that is a plus, you will probably get more sparks with these. This striker is very light and compact. I didn't find it to be too small personally, but note the size if you have big hands or are lacking in dexterity. My one gripe is that the edge erodes. I got the impression from both the item description (as well as science) that a ceramic edge would have no trouble handling a less-hard ferro rod or a magnesium bar. Yet I found that there was some chipping/edge erosion with each use of this striker. Tiny, to be sure, but noticeable nonetheless. I tried to capture a photo of it with that edge close-up, although admittedly it's hard to see.So, this DOES work; it WILL shave pieces of magnesium off your bar; it WILL produce voluminous sparks. It should last a while, too... just not forever. It will probably be totally sufficient for most, and I did add it to my survival bag.

Survival…
I was very excited when I ordered this fire starting device, and had never seen the concept before. To my delight, I got the opportunity to try it out, and I absolutely love it!! You don’t have to rely on traditional flint, and as long as you have a piece of steel hanging around, you can start a fire.I figured this thing would be brittle, but I have knocked it around, into many hard objects, and it has definitely stood the test of time, and my unintentional abuse! The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it’s a little hard to hold onto and use repeatedly. I saw another device very similar to this one, and it had an area to hold onto making it easier to use. The edges dig into your hand a bit. But I simply wrapped a little waxed twine around it, like a makeshift knife handle, and it works fine for me. Definitely recommend at least checking this out!
