keeps you dry, but needs changes to accommodate European proportions
I really wanted this to work, and it does, it keeps you dry. But there's a problem. The hood is cut just a couple of inches too short, from top to neck, meaning that when you put it up (and let's be honest, the only reason that you're gonna be wearing one of these is because it's pouring rain and you don't want to get wet, so yes, you'd put the hood up), the shortness of the hood lifts the entire poncho from your shoulders and hangs its entire weight off the top of your head. That's a lot of weight, especially when it's covered in rain, and it's pretty uncomfortable. On top of that, because the top of the hood is in constant rubbing contact with your head, it begins to transmit water pretty quickly. so now you're uncomfortable AND wet.Aside from the hood issue (and no, I don't have a big head!), it's a great poncho. The poppers all work, and are useful in case it's windy, the 'sleeves' are long enough, and I really appreciate the grommits on the corners, to string it up as a shelter. It's your typical polyester so it doesn't feel cheap, like the disposable plastic ones. The length could be a few extra inches to accommodate Western height, as it reaches *just* to the knee (I'm 5'9"), so with a pack on your back, it would be pretty short at the back. But for the price it's a good try at a trekking poncho. I think had the hood been long enough, this would have been a glowing 5-star review. If you're below 5'5, I'd say get one. Above that, it's a bit hit and miss.

Well constructed, waterproof, handy- Yes
Have been keeping a battered poncho in the car boot for ages, a backstop against the day the car lets me down, in the middle of a rainstorm- just know it has to happen that way. This poncho is great value., it's not the festival use once and its torn , or even a theme park rip-off, this is well constructed, good water resistance with secure clips and even has mounting eyes if you do want to go tactical in a forest. The material is reassuringly strong, the ends stitched for strength and protection, the hood has a drawstring with a real clip and a peak to stop water running into the eyes. Wearing the poncho doesn't feel heavy or overly moisture retaining- due to breathable material, arms can move easily and it doesn't feel restrictive, it hangs nicely off the body and folds into natural valleys to move a way water. Material is generously cut and allows for a reasonably sized backpack to be covered as well- but you will struggle with larger packs and should look for recommended alternatives.A flapped and Velcro secured small pocket at the front is a useful addition, it may take a smallish map, but doesn't hold very much and you should minimise the weight stored in it.It folds nicely and compactly into the supplied cover, whilst not trouser pocket sized it would easily compress into a small section of a bag, or in a car glove box as a standby which is where mine is. I would recommend this poncho.

Reusable for sure and large enough to fit over a day sack
I got two of these from different manufacturers and they are exactly the same in every detail. As such my review of that one is also basically the review of this one. The material is of reasonable thickness and does repel water, but it's no match for a British army poncho. To be fair though not many are. This isn't as strong but for a general rain cover it's fine and probably would function as a makeshift tarp or ground sheet in a pinch. It's large enough to accommodate a day sack (say 30-40 litres) on your back or as others have said for draping over the back of a camp chair you're sitting on.Fine for regular use and thankfully they do away with those really cheap disposable ones sold at events. We have to stop using stuff like that as a society. As with all ponchos though I do wish you the very best of luck getting it back into the pouch on anything like a windy day, you'll need it.

A Must Have.
When I ordered this I had plans of keeping it for myself. It would be perfect for days when I go out when it's sunny but looks like it's going to rain. I just wanted to put it in my bag and use if if I got caught in the rain.Unfortunately for me, my husband took one look at it and claimed it for his emergency kit bag. He says it is perfect because not only is it wearable and very protective in wet weather, but it can be used as a tarp or a ground sheet. Then of course when you wear it you can easily cover your back pack as well. All things he says we need to be able to do if we ever find ourselves in an emergency situation. So I don't have a poncho to use now. Well not until I buy one, well two really, one for now and one to be mine in the emergency kit.It is very well made and I would say would fit up to a UK size 30/32 and still have room for a backpack to be covered. I am a size 24 and it fits me with loads of room to spare. And I mean loads of room. The hood with built in visor is excellent for keeping off rain if you are out and about with it on.It comes folded up in a pouch which will make a handy little bag for storing things when you are camping if need be. It's waterproof too so even if you just use it as intended, to keep the poncho in, it won't wet everything that you put the pouch covered poncho into.It really is a must have even when not facing emergency situations!

emergency rain cover
Great size, covers me to mid calf (i am 5'9) so with my wellingtons on I am almost fully protected.Construction isn't the best, there were a lot of loose hanging threads that I tied and cut off and the bottom popper on one side takes a LOT of pressure to close.I haven't had to use as a ground sheet, wind break or emergency tent/cover but it has re-enforced rings on each corner so I see no reason it wouldn't work. The material is very similar to umbrella material in thickness and flexibility. If I needed something every day for very heavy rain I would invest in something thicker with more pockets and options for adjustments but if like me you're going to use it as an emergency cover to keep in your bag/car for when you get caught out by the rain but don't want to fight with an umbrella then it's fine for £12.99 (at time of review)
