When her husband was arrested in a political corruption scandal, Alicia Florrick (Primetime Emmy Award winner* Julianna Margulies) dutifully played the part of The Good Wife. But when she returns to the work force, she becomes so much more: a powerful attorney, working mother, clandestine lover and even a contender for the state’s attorney’s office. And now, every episode from the first six seasons of the lauded series is available in this gripping box set. Bonus FeaturesDeleted scenes

A drop in standard from the previous excellent seasons.
A bit unfair to title my review of Season 6 'a drop' : perhaps 'different' would be more apt.Often leaves the usual TGW format of each episode centering around a new court trial, albeit that everything becomes resolved in the course of a few days when we know that such actions can take months to finalize. We accept that, it is only television and a resolution gives us the viewer satisfaction and closure. The main thread of this season is Cary's (Matt Czuchry) prosecution and his attempts to avoid disbarment and prison. Also a run by Alicia (Julianna Margulies) to become state attorney, her campaign orchestrated by characters who didn't come up to the high standards set by Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) when he was chief of staff of Peter's (Chris Noth) run to become Governor. In my opinion.Highlight of the season for me was the 'romance' between the flamboyant but ditzy Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) and Josh Perotti (Kyle MacLachlan) which was beautifully played out over several episodes and showed the genuine comedic genius of both actors. The scents of baby lotion and 'Old Spice' play their parts. In my opinion. The usual favourites are all there including Louis Canning (Michael J Fox) once again scene-stealing on every occasion he is in shot of the camera. The writers know what they've got in this National Treasure and know how to use him. If it gives this disabled actor work I'm all for it. It's a long way from 'Casualties Of War' & 'Back To The Future'.A hint at the end that Alicia may team with Fox in the episode 'Wanna Partner?'????? Just my opinion.22 episodes, 900 plus minutes, each of the 6 discs have special features not viewed by this reviewer (I buy a dvd for the show not special features so I would never denigrate a product for lack of special features), English subtitles for the hearing impaired. A warning on the dvd jacket about 'strong sex' ---- probably a reference to Kalinda's (Archie Punjabi) activities who is in and out of bed with both sexes. I've never been sure how much that adds to the show.

MUCH TO ADMIRE BUT MAINLY IN THE FIRST HALF
The penultimate season. Two major storylines: lawyer Cary Agos facing a possible fifteen year prison sentence for allegedly aiding drug traffickers; Alicia Florrick's bid to become State's Attorney. Amongst issues to come under close scrutiny are downloading, hacking, attitudes to gay marriage, gun control, ballot rigging.Topicality is awesome. At one point a plot so resembles an actual event, an announcement had to assure viewers the episode concerned had been written and produced before an unarmed black man was gunned down by white police. Also chillingly exposed is illegal Chicago police activity currently taking place.22 episodes. Much that is good, equal to the show at its best. As ever, it fascinates to see the detailed delving into legal and political processes . A corrupt State's Attorney is about to be ousted, Alicia and her opponent Prady both representing integrity (David Hyde Pierce excellent). The two hope for a clean campaign, but are subjected to mudslinging, dirty tricks and lies (all reminiscent of electioneering this year both at home and abroad).Sadly the show meanders after the Election, far too much attention paid to Kalinda's problems. Although a popular character, the emphasis on her seems to throw everything off balance, the result not really satisfying. To dwell, though, on the positive! Often scripts are great, the cast on fine form. As Alicia, Julianna Margulies is superb as the good wife with a dodgy husband (Peter still up to his tricks). Sympathy grows for Matt Czuchry's Cary, especially as a guilty verdict seems increasingly likely. As Diane, Christine Baranski continues to impress. Humour abounds, often provided by highly manipulative Alan Cumming's Eli, he now with a daughter equally adept at scheming - sometimes against him, which adds to the fun.Illuminating bonuses are well worth a look.Overall? Still quality fare, but in need of a firmer sense of direction.(By the way, learnt in passing: be very careful what you put in emails!)

website incorrect information
I went on to the site asking for THE GOOD WIFE -SEASON 7 -this area identified itself on amazon as series 7 and certain of the choices were for that season.I went ahead and made a quick order NOT realising that certain of the choices were NOT for sees 7 but had been placed incorrectly under that heading, they were in fact for sees 6 which I have already got.NO opportunity to cancel even though I spotted this shortly thereafter and so will have to try to return item. This has put me off trusting this sites reliability does nobody check what is on under each category?

still a great series
If you have come this far with The Good Wife then you already know it is a very impressive series. The only possible reason for uncertainty is doubting if it can continue at the level of season 5. Obviously there are several emotionally charged reasons why 5 was a hard season to beat and maybe 6 doesn't quite match it. However, it is a great season none the less, the acting remains superb, the design impeccable and the story-lines compelling. So, if you are wondering if it is worth getting, don't hesitate- you wouldn't want to miss it-

I discovered this series very late when they were on the last season. Grippingly addictive to watch from start to finish in quick succession. This doesn't include the final series but to be honest the ending is very unsatisfactory so might be as well to stop at 6.

Great Service
I bought this second-hand from Smith@UK on the Amazon Marketplace. The first DVD in the set had a corruption. When the supplier read my review they sent me a brand new DVD set. That is good service!Oh! the good wife? the plots are getting more incredible but the tempo and acting are amazing. I hope the next series has more court room stories. This series was more about Alicia's back story and corruption in Cook County.
