They are soft and flexible, not hard so as to get brittle or break. Made of high quality food-grade silicone. There was no smell or off-flavor to the water when I drank out of them. These were terrible. I bought them for a trip to Europe thinking it would be a great space saver. They leaked and were not easy to hold when drinking. I didn’t even return them. I threw them away on day 2.

We bought these for a trip we took over seas. They leave a rubber taste in the water. We washed it multiple times and it didn’t seem to go away no matter how many times we cleaned it. It didn’t keep the water cold, it is just a vehicle for water. Upside is It didn’t keep not leak, it was light weight, and it collapsed smaller as it was emptied.

Great for taking on trips. We used these everyday and are easy to refill. They just clip on your backpack for easy transporting
