Great strings for classical guitar
I play a classical guitar but prefer not to play with my fingernails long. These strings were recommended to me and I think they are great. The trebles are thinner than normal and the volume and sustain they give even though I'm playing without nails is fabulous. It might seem odd using strings on a classical guitar that have ball ends and don't require the usual tying off at the bridge, but unless you're a die-hard traditionalist give them a go. They've certainly enhanced my enjoyment of playing the guitar.

Awesome strings.
Not everyone ones cup of tea BUT I love them. I wanted to learn jazz and thought I'd buy a nylon/classical acoustic ala Django! That was a mistake. Very nice guitar (Tanglewood electro acoustic) for finger picking but not playing medley in chords. BUT with these strings it really makes it a complete crossover multi use instrument. It's turned a good guitar into one with a great sharp flexible sound especially amplified. Excellent for picking or fingerpicking. Shame they're so expensive. Best strings ever.

Breathed new life into an old guitar
These strings are not for everyone. If you want an authentic classical sound then its either catgut or nylon. However, if its a brighter tone you are after, they do the trick. I strung my Yamaha NTX 500 with them and breathed new life into it. Even the lead singer in my band noticed the difference. I will be sticking with them from now on.

Superb string somewhere in between a nylon & steel
I like the Thomastik-Infeld Classic range of strings very much, they are expensive but to me having the right sound is important enough to justify the cost & they do last a long time. The S series comes in KF110 which are basically steel strings you can put on a nylon strung guitar & this set KR116 which are nylon core with rope wound steel.I use these strings most of the time except when I require a more traditional warm classical sound (then I use the Thomastik-Infeld CF128).They are significantly thinner than regular nylon strings (.016, .024, .025, .023, .031 & .039. as opposed to typical nylon set of .028, .033, .040, .030, .036, &.045) Extremely well made they uncoil straight from the packets without curling & have ball ends. Very quick & easy to fit, they sound in tune straight away & don't require days of breaking in like most nylons staying remarkably in tune from the start. They do however require only very tiny amounts of movement from your tuning pegs to tune & are not acoustically particularly loud. The tone is bright & as you might expect slightly metallic but not in an unpleasant way. I would describe them as a nylon sound with a steel edge & they offer tremendous playability. If you play nylon string guitar in a jazz or pop setting you'll love how easy it is to bend notes with these & your tone will cut through beautifully in an ensemble. They wont be to everyone's taste & those looking for a rich full bodied mellow tone for classical music would probably be advised to look elsewhere but if you play electro nylon you might love them.

Wrapped treble strings introduce a lot of nail noise
I was recommended these strings for my 11-string fretless Godin guitar, primarily as they are ball-ended and designed as nylon string substitutes. (Godin no longer markets dedicated ball-ended nylon strings for the instrument.) The problem for me is that as the treble strings are wrapped, they introduce a lot of nail scratching noise on the strings that are usually smooth nylon (I play with my nails). Playing with a pick creates a much sharper, tighter sound than the traditional nylons, so if thats what you want then these strings work well, but for my style, they fail. Also, two sets for the 11-strings work out to be very expensive!

I definitely won't buy these or use this supplier again!
I've always used Thomastik strings on my jazz guitar and love them so tried these on my Ovation electro classical, but didn't get as far as trying them as two strings snapped tuning up. Wrote to the supplier who blamed me for over tightening them (I've only been playing for 35 years after all and have been a guitar tech)! These are not cheap and neither was the postage from germany so turned into an expensive waste of time, and the attitude of the supplier was really unhelpful.

Awesome
If you want a string you can use for classical music and other contemporary music blues jazz etc these are perfect. the tone is like a perfect middle ground. Only strings I've used for years. I use them on a parlour sized acoustic to play classical guitar . And every thing else.

Very different strings. Expensive, but may be worth it if you like this feel and tone.
Very different strings. Players either fall in love with them and don't want to play anything else, or they don't care for them and can't bear the price tag. They are expensive, but may be worth it. because if you like them there is nothing else like them on the market. I think these are made primarily for a nylon string guitar; they make a nylon string sound a "little" more like a steel string guitar. Stands to reason since they have very fine steel rope strands as the core. That said, it is still a much softer and mellower tone than any set of phosphor bronze or 80/20 strings. The strings are very low tension, I think about 90lbs total across the set, which is more like a set of medium-to-hard tension nylon strings; that compared to 130-160lbs and more from conventional steel string sets. So you should never put steel strings on a classical nylon string guitar, it will damage the top, may even rip the saddle off the top. Nylon string guitars are braced lighter and have thinner more delicate tops because they don't have as much string tension. But you can safely put these on the most delicate classical nylon string guitar -- that is the real intent of Thomastik-Infeld with these strings.Vice versa, the opposite is also true: nylon strings do not work on a standard acoustic guitar that is meant to have the tension of steel strings to move the top, however I have used these on my steel string acoustic guitars. It may require a little neck adjustment and though they may not have as much volume, they do work and give a nice mellow tone. What is surprising with the soft feel of the strings is that they have such good sustain and a wonderful low end from the bass strings. The tension from string to string is very balanced and they are a pleasure to play once you get used to the slack feeling of the strings. It feels a little like if you take a steel string acoustic and tune it down a full step or more. If you don't like that loose feeling, you won't like these strings. If you do, you will love them, because you'll get that loose feeling with your guitar up at concert pitch. These strings are good for older guitars that you would prefer not string up to the full tension of conventional steel strings, because you're afraid of damage. More than the sound of these strings, for a standard acoustic steel string guitar, you'll like how comfortable they are on the hands and fingers. If you have arthritis or any condition that has made playing acoustic guitar really rough on your hands, these strings may be just the ticket to keep you playing. Keep in mind they are going to feel loose and will have to learn to fret with a much lighter touch. To me, it's exactly like when a player of steel strings picks up a nylon string guitar for the first time. They are beautifully made strings, very unique, and as with many of the offerings from Thomastik-Infeld you may think, "I love these strings, I wish they weren't so damn expensive, but I love these strings."
