The Best Sub I Ever Had
I had multiple subwoofers including 2.1 multimedia and 5.1 Hi-Fi systems, so I was not going to be surprised by the sound of this beast. I was wrong, I was shocked, I got goosebumps. Yeah, this subwoofer is so huge and so loud. I use it with Adam T5Vs connecting to SSL 2+. It has power mode switcher, so you can set it to auto power off or always on. But it is super good on auto off mode even at low volume. It includes a foot switch, which is useful even when you’re watching Youtube, because some do not cut low frequencies from their speech. I tried to get sound of <35 Hz, but on the comfortable volume level it is impossible. I mean unless you crank the sub’s level up to around zero you wouldn’t hear frequencies lower 30 Hz. But in this case my monitors would also need to be cranked up. It was just an experiment, of course. There is no need in such low frequencies, because they are only like bulldozer vibrations. As for sound character, it is super fast, responsive. I like metal, rock and some electronic music and this thing handles everything excellently. I clearly hear and feel punches of bass drum and bass guitar. I have never heard bass guitar so detailed, I think I can easily make tabs of bass lines now. After some adjustments I stopped at turning on the high pass filter on the sub and turning the crossover to 80 Hz. My 7 string guitar sounds super crunchy, because now the satellites mainly voice over just above 80 Hz and the sub takes care of the frequencies below this threshold.Absolutely recommend!Goes with 6 month Presonus membership, just register the product.

Loud
I use this in my studio working with a synthesizer etc. It is very powerful, never muddy. Love the sub bypass pedal, and the L/R pass through for studio monitors.

It's big and powerful
I bought this to use with my studio monitors, currently M-Audio BX8A. Those monitors are rated down to 40hz, which, is fine on paper but they lack any...oomph below 70hz; not that you want a lot of oomph, but songs that I know are bass heavy sound normal on those. Just generally not very present or representative bass.Enter this sub. I am not disappointed that's for sure! It has plenty of power; in fact it's super easy to dial in way too much bass! Using the high-pass-filter actually helps my BX8As be more in their element and I have the cross over dialed to the same spot. I'm slightly below noon on the gain control on the sub, while my BX8As are at about 2:00 if the dot is a clock face. Initially I was running those BX8As at noon, and the sub at 9:00; but my source wasn't getting quite as loud as I'd like. That said, I have not done a SPL check vs pink noise to balance, but I feel like I have it pretty dialed in; listening to music I can tell it's there/present and is adding a nice amount, I can really tell it's there on some songs that I know are bass-heavy; and songs that aren't it seems to add just the right amount of low end to not be overly noticeable but still present. The handy footswitch allows one to kill the sub and listen to the mains only; to get a comparative and also see if perhaps the sub is doing too much or too little. A solid feature.I do have one gripe; at the time of this review the manual is incorrect on the dimensions; they don't include the 'feet'. I contacted Presonus Support about this error in the hopes they'll update the manual. The actual measurements are 16-7/16" tall, not 15.75". The other measurements they use are correct. This required some re-design of my space as I had enough to clear 15.75" but not enough to clear over 16".Still, I'm not sending this back. In fact, this may press forward phase 2, which is the replacement of those BX8A with the Eris Pro 6's. I don't want to go 8's again, and the 4's just came out; they might be too small for my needs, but may ponder between the idea of the 6's vs 4's' for the smaller footprint and being 4's they may be a bit faster moving than the 6's.My needs? Ranges between tracking/recording my own guitar/bass/drum bits / riffs / songs and listening to audio. I get a real kick out of hearing some of the details that turn up with monitors or reference headphones as well as the better separation of instruments and vocals.
