There are more options available now
This is a difficult review to write because there are two ways I can review this product, on its own, or by looking at the competition. And I bring this up because these earbuds were released back at the start of 2022. That’s quite a long time for the Chi-fi space, as Chinese manufacturers are constantly making improvements and updates to their IEM lines, especially in the budget space. Back when these came out, these were quite impressive for their time. The tuning they offered combined with a decent fit and an in-line microphone for around $20 was hard to beat. But since then, there are many new players in the twenty dollar space. The 7Hz Salnotes Zero and the Truthear Hola are both very competitive IEMs as they offer marginal improvements and nicer build qualities than the CRA’s. But that isn’t to say the CRA is bad or outdated, it still performs better than some other budget options such as the Moondrop Chu, and the tuning of the CRA can be slightly better than the Salnotes Zero in certain instances. For example, when listing to older recordings of music, such as the Backstreet Boys “Get Another Boyfriend”, I prefer the more V-shaped tuning of the CRAs than the more neutral leaning Salnotes Zeros as the bass bump offers a tad more depth to the track. However, when listing to more modern music that was recorded and mastered with newer techniques, such as MAMAMOO’s “Egotistic”, I find the Zero to be more accurate and pleasant for longer periods of time as they offer a more realistic and less fatiguing experience, that is more in line with studio monitors. Also this shouldn’t come at any surprise, but the built in microphone is very solid as this is a wired pair of earbuds. Any wired audio connection is going to sound leagues better than bluetooth because the technology just isn’t here yet to replace wired audio. Now if these were the only two contenders in the twenty dollar space, then I could suggest there is a case for both of these to exist. But because the Truthear Hola exists, I have to say it is the ideal replacement for the CRAs. The Hola has a similar tuning while also maintaining more detail and clarity. So because of that, I do think the CRAs are outdated and people should move onto the newer players in the budget IEM space. Unless you are getting a significant discount on the CRAs, I can’t justify recommending them. The competition is just too strong in this space and innovation happens too fast.

Still budget gold
Budget IEMs have become highly competitive over the last year or two. Many brands have brought budget IEMs with natural tuning and decent specs making me question whether the CRAs are still relevant in today's field. The short answer is a resounding YES!For the price of entry, these budget IEMs sound great! They have a slight v shape to them, but in a manner that creates a fun and vibrant sound. The build is not exceptional, but their light weight makes wearing them for hours on end very comfortable.Another bonus is the efficiency that these IEMs run. The CRAs are easily able to be powered by any dongle DAC. This makes pairing them with your current setup a breeze. The build quality is average and should be updated to meet current entry-level standards. The cable and tips are the standard KZ style being a clearly budget setup. They work, but I would highly recommend tip-rolling and switching the cable up for a much better experience. I ended up using JVC Spiral Dots and have been very happy with my choice. I also upgraded the cable to a sturdier and better-feeling option.I am happy to have reintroduced this pair of IEMs into my collection. The CRAs are a very capable set of IEMs, and I don't feel bad when I eventually give them away, or if one eventually fails. I would highly recommend this as an entry point to the world of IEMs.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(Gear Used)Phone: Google Pixel 6 ProPhone DACs used: Helm Bolt; Apple USB-C Dongle; Quedelix 5K; Various Generic USB-C DACsDAC: Topping E50 DACAmplifier: Drop+THX AAA 789Digital Audio Player: Onkyo DP-X1APlaylist: Phone: Google Pixel 6 ProPhone DACs used: Helm Bolt; Apple USB-C Dongle; Quedelix 5K; Various Generic USB-C DACsDAC: Topping E50 DACAmplifier: Drop+THX AAA 789Digital Audio Player: Onkyo DP-X1APlaylist: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/f1d8589164d54b3da61c5d62fc60e04fsune?ref=dm_sh_7013-432d-e6d2-cd4b-6caab

Not Great but do the job
I use these to monitor my keyboard rig. The sound is not great but they do the job. Build quality is good, and for the price you can't go wrong.
