Top Smartphone

Great value phone
After my Huawei p30 pro started acting due to water damage (apparently ip68 wears off after a couple of years) I was looking for a replacement. This has not been an easy task! I refuse to pay close to 1000 euros for a mobile device, it shouldn't ne this expensive! The pixel immediately comes up, it's a much liked (and hyped) phone with an affordable price. Honestly initial impressions weren't great. The camera, fingerprint reader (why on earth everyone wants an under display reader??) and face recognition were all worse compared to my old phone. I knew I had to make a compromise with the pixel 7a lacking a telelens but still. The much hyped nightvision shots are average at best, even with average light the pictures get alot of noise and are barely usable. Daytime shots are great, but focusing is still a bit slow. But that's the same with most budget phones, also phones that cost 300 euros. On that front, maybe the pixel 7 is better? I don't know.Another absurd nuisance is the fact that the pixel only charges with PD cables. It's one of the slowest charging phones out there (I dont really mind that), but it refuses standard usb c cables! This is a joke! Make sure to pack such a cable, chances are you can't borrow someones charger because the pixel won't accept it. The battery isn't bad but for me barely lasts a day with moderate usage, so charging around 8-9pm is necessary for me.For the good part, I do like some new features from android 13. Wireless android auto is amazing and works flawless. You start your car and android auto starts on the screen, with the phone still in my pocket!Everything also runs very smooth, for me not running hot at all! I'm not a die-hard gamer but I absolutely have zero complaints about the tensor chip. Lightroom, video editing and running multiple apps al works great. For now I'm keeping the phone, but after Huawei I'm afraid to get back in the yearly phone testing spiral. This is the last pixel for me, next I'm probably gonna try Honor or Oneplus.Pros and cons:Value ++Build quality ++Cpu speed +++Software/UI +++Update policy +++Batterylife ++Camera +/-Fingerprint reader -Face unlock +/-Charging --EDIT: I have to advise against this phone. I'm getting rid of mine. The battery drain coupled with the small battery and charging issues mean that it sometimes barely lasts 6-8 hours. A reboot fixes the drain but what's the point? There's also lots of software issues, today I found out that I couldn't get the dial screen on my phone when connected to android auto. So basically it means that I can't swap calls to my phone and can only end the call on the headunit. If you're up for this bumpy ride and don't mind paying top dollar to be a beta tester go ahead. I'm goin back to android 11 or 12 with oppo or oneplus. There's a LOT less issues with the chinese devices than google and samsung.
