This thing works great in all the ways that are important.
I live in a house in a valley on a mountainside w/o reliable cellular service. On my top floor I get 1-2 bars 5g service. On the middle and bottom floors I get no bars.We also work in technology, often remotely from home, so having internet service that goes out is not an option. When it rains here power can be iffy.Working from a coffee shop is also not an option, as we take video meetings. And if the power is out at home it is also often out at the coffee shop. I set up a PoE+ system at home and used 2.5gb wifi AP’s that run on PoE+, but our fiber router (bgw320 w/ AT&T) also needed battery backup that could last several hours. That’s where this device comes in.It uses the same network cable supporting the network connection and powers the bgw320 supporting 2.5gb along with power to run it.The original bgw320 power supply offered 4 amps, but a quick test showed that at full load it only drew ~1amp max during usage and booting. The lesser PoE adapters only supported 1gb (not 2.5) and only a little more than 1 amp. We wanted more power capacity and throughput than that. After connecting things up, this device runs very cool and has no trouble passing through full 2.5gb (well, 2.4gb with overhead) in both directions.I highly recommend it.
