When I first saw these wireless temperature probes, I thought what a great idea !!I can use while grilling so that I'm not constantly running back and forth from my kitchen to my grillOnce I received it, I learned that I can use it for cooking most any cooking method - air fryer oven, slow cooker, smoker, etcetera. But, obviously not in the microwaveI used the probe to grill a New York strip steak and it was cooked to perfectionThe application, compared to some others is a little bit on the weak sideYou only get the choice of beef or pork etcetera and not the exact style like steak, shoulder, roast etc. However the most important part is the internal temperature is accurate and Im alerted when to remove the food!!

The probe comes in a nice wooden box and is easy to use. I downloaded the app without having to register, which is nice. Probe measured temp accurately but I didn’t get the 165foot Bluetooth range that was advertised. I used it in my oven on a roast chicken and if I got more than 12 feet away with my phone, I got a connecting error (see pic). Once I moved closer it would reconnect on its own. The app has the ability to warn you when it is close to done. I set it for 10 degrees before the target and the phone chimed to let me know it was 10 degrees until my bird was done and again when the target temp was reached. This is not dishwasher safe, but was easy to clean.

My biggest complaint about this thermometer/probe is the lack of range. It definitely doesn’t deliver the 165 ft range it promises. This seems to be an issue with most of these- wi-fi versions sometimes seem to do a little better than bluetooth, but then that’s dependent on your router location and signal strength, of course. For the price, it seems pretty good/typical, and I like that it includes the ambient temperature probe. I’m thinking that using the app on a tablet that’s in range of the probe and synced with my phone might be a workaround for the range issue.

I had no issues with this connecting or reading the temperature. So 4 stars. Where this loses a star for me is how thick the probe is for one, and also if I place this in a piece of meat in my BBQ and go inside I lose connectivity if I close my door. Now it warm outside and this is fine for now. But during the super hot/cold months this is going to be a problem. I love the idea, I just wish it had wifi connetion not blue tooth. But honestly that a bit of a nit pick. It's great otherwise.

The main probe seems reasonably well calibrated, the ambient sensor reads very low. The size of the probe is way too large in diameter which makes it not suited to thinner cuts or fish.I ran it side by side with another wireless meat thermometer brand and was able to sit in my living room less than 40 feet from the probe with the other brand. This one lost contact at that short distance through one standard US 2x4 construction exterior wall.

This is a nice size temperature probe. You charge it in the wooden case it comes in. Download the app and it connects to the probe via Bluetooth. I used it to check the temp of the pot roast I was cooking in my crockpot. You can select from the preset temps for the meat being cooked or set your own temp in those categories. It also has an other category which you can set the temp you want it to alarm. I used this for bread temp when making homemade bread. I really like this. The probe isn't too long to get in the way of lids or things, but long enough for a roast or prime rib. I will update this review as I use it in different applications.

I got this to connect - twice. Once connected, it stayed connected until I put it back in the case. The next time I used it I absolutely could not get it to connect. I tried forgetting the probe in the app and then trying to repair it. No dice. It was fully charged. This is not reliable enough to purchase or recommend.
