Caran d'AcheFixpencil Black 3mm Pencil - CA-3288 (3.288)

At first glance, this might seem like a simple run-of-the-mill clutch pencil. It isn't. Leave it to the Swiss to make an exception product. First of all, it isn't plastic; it's metal. Second of all....it has a lead sharpener. Yeah, you read that right; it has a LEAD SHARPENER!! It's in the colored cap that simply pulls off and there are small razor blades in the inside of it. You run the lead through it and it makes a perfect tapered point that matches the exact slope of the pencil itself.The weight and feel is by far the best clutch pencil I have used. The quality of Caaran D'ache leads are equally wonderful. You cannot go wrong with this pencil.

I love these lead holders. Ive had the blue cap 2mm one for over 10 years never once had an issue with it. When i originally bought it i also ordered extra lead well they sent me 3mm lead. So its been sitting, until recently i got back into sketching/drawing and looked for 3mm holders were not that many options so i decided to stay with what i know since they actually made them and im glad i did they feel qnd work great. I prob order another brand aswell when i find just to try it out these are light and of excellent quality. Just wish their leads were less expensive. 6 leads cost more then the holder? But i find no flaws with holders

I like the Drafting 314 pencil however this is unlike a pencil or traditional lead holder the Fixpencil with 3 mm lead offers several lead surfaces by beveling and rolling as your sketch.

This leadholder feels light in your hand,even though it is all-metal. The spring clutch comes out pretty smooth which is very nice. The built-in sharpener isn't too bad, and the lead it came with leaves a rich, dark mark. I would definitely buy another one.

Expensive but lasts and allows the use of thicker pencil leads that don't easily break. I use it all the time

First off, stock photo in the listing is for model number 3.289 with the textured grip section-Length is 5.3"/135mm, pics show other dimensions and weights compared to other common and cheaper alternatives-Internal barrel is plastic, probably cheap ABS, with no fiber reinforcement. The one in mine is slightly bent, probably from the manufacturing process, but doesn't affect function or looks.-Center of gravity is a few mm's forward biased, and feels great-The collet does fully hide/retract into the body when there is no lead in it, this is a plus, as I have dropped other leadholders and they have suffered damage to this important piece-It comes with a sharpener in the end cap like the majority of other leadholders.Finally, the biggest question: Can you use 2mm lead in this?yes and no, the last pic here is with a piece of Mitsubishi Uni 2mm lead, with the little stopper band adding enough diameter for the Caran D'ache collet to grip up on it, so its doable, but without the Uni band thing, the lead will just slide through the collet. (one could modify the collet to accept 2mm lead, but that requires a dremel)It feels great, but its $30+ for the textured one (in 3mm or 2mm) in the stock photo THAT THIS IS NOT, and Caran D'ache anything is way overpriced for what you ultimately get.

La verdad es que con tanto comentario positivo tenía mas expectativas.Llevo apenas unas horas usándolo.El cuerpo es de plástico, bien terminado. Se siente cómodo.La tapa capuchón es azul y no negra, lo cual fue una sorpresa porque en la descripción dice color NEGRO sin mas detalles.Esto le saca un poco de estilo al producto.La variable calidad-precio no termina de convencerme.Analizando si lo regreso.

Tutto perfetto: consegna rapida e prodotto conforme alla descrizione. Ho sbagliato io a non controllare il diametro della mina, inadatto alle mie esigenza. Caran d'Ache offre comunque prodotti ottimi, professionali

There are apparently many different types of the same fix pencil line out there. Even for this 3mm lead holder. I'm a collector and have looked for a fix pencil without the grainy grip zone. I just wanted the smooth design as shown in the picture. Might order another one as a backup as I use this one quite a lot.
