Salifert NIPT Nitrite Test Kit

I bought this as I was fishless cycling a filter. It was meant to have a high and low range. Despite having water that I know from 2 different manufacturers was well over 5ppm nitrite, this read 0ppm. No colour change at all. This is very dangerous to fish and does not help a fish keeper in need as it gives false readings. It's also a complete waste of money. I contacted Salifert on Facebook for help and to warn them of a potential bad batch of product, but they ignored my message. I won't waste my money on Salifert test kits again!

Apparently one of the most reliable kits... Just not a fan of adding "a scoop" of reagent... Might explain fluctuations in my results that I can't justify otherwise.

The Good- Easy to follow instructions- Scientific style test kit- Clear indicator chart- Detailed instructions, and quick picture guideThe Bad- The chart is not laminated (try not to get it wet)- Packaging could be better (part of the kit was rattling around the amazon package)The SummaryI have used API, and Tetra test kits, but Salifert has become my test kit provider of choice. This kit feels very scientific and gives confidence they will be accurate and consistent. Each kit seems to have 50 tests in it. If you are curious about Salifert, don’t hesitate, buy one, you will not be sorry.The only downside, is that the packaging is not as air tight as I’d like. If Salifert make their packaging tighter, and laminate their charts, they would get unreserved top marks! However, due to the packaging, and the chart that is not laminated, I can only give this product 4 stars. But don’t let that put you off, if the whole kit arrives, you are in for a treat.(I have the Nitrate and Calcium kits, with the Alkalinity and Magnesium test kits on the way).
