Great game once you get past the first play-through
I have a group of friends that play board games relatively frequently (at least once per month in non-pandemic times) and I picked this up while on lock down. The first play through took a bit of time (like most games) for needing to get back and reference the rules. The game is simple enough to understand after the first two rounds and I imagine setup will be easier in the future. Additionally, the core mechanics of clandestine trading and unknown amounts of money by each player add a flavor to the game that I haven't seen in other table-top games. The one downside is that the money used is similar to monopoly money, and the transactions and passing money back and forth could easily lead to the money looking worn and ratty. I plan on eventually switching out the paper money with something more like poker chips for a similar effect but it would allow for more play with less wear and tear. All other components are sturdy for their intended use.

Finance, Bluffing and Mind Reading
I love the game although it was not as I expected. The game component are good, the money papers are excellent and the mechanism and feeling exceed expectation and you will never know what will happen and who will win until the final round. It is not a pure financial game as its look like, it is a mixture of finance and mind reading games and thats why I like it too much. well done purchase

It's a game where you never feel like you are actually winning or doing well
One of the most interesting games I have played. It's a game where you never feel like you are actually winning or doing well. More like you are wading water, just hoping someone is going to crash and burn before you. Surprisingly, a slower paced game and more thoughtful game than I thought. Quality of the components are solid, but I think it makes the game less accessible. The game really is all cardboards/cards. High quality, but still, $40+ for cardboard/cards. I think they could have used some cheaper boards and such and drop the price of the game by like $10 or something. I don't know how the industry goes and if cheaper components could really drop the price that much, but yeah...Also, it's kind of slow paced for me. It was enjoyable, but at the same time, it wasn't as lively and boisterous as I thought it would be. It really is quite analytical and requires keeping tabs on people's hidden resources and striking the deals at the right time. I think it's game that requires a certain mood to play. It will definitely come out to the table, but I just don't see it coming out on a regular basis.

Fascinating social economic game
Ponzi Scheme is unlike any other game I've played, and that's not a bad thing. It's a combination economic and social game that doesn't compromise on either front.Players are fraudsters trying to build the biggest shell company empire before someone goes bankrupt. And one or more players WILL go bankrupt (and lose), so the goal is to risk enough on ridiculous investments that you're in the lead when the game ends. The economic half of the game is interesting, and what I like about it is that it's hard enough to parse that the game doesn't bog down in extended calculations. What makes the game really shine, though, is the social aspect. Each round, players have the chance to make "clandestine trades" with each other. You can only offer a clandestine trade to someone else in the same industry as you. You offer them a secret amount of money (stashed in the included wallet). The other person can either accept your cash and hand over an industry of that type or meet your offer and take your industry tile. Clandestine trades are the fastest way to points, but finding the right amount to offer is grueling. You don't want to jeopardize your finances (and go bankrupt), but you also can't let your industries go for a song.Ponzi Scheme has simple rules (for a game this type) and plays in a little over an hour, and it's a great time each time it hits the table.
