The Girl in the Castle Inside the Museum Hardcover – February 12, 2008

This book is magic. Breath-taking illustrations, an interesting and (judging it as a writer) really complex structure presented simply - something that will stretch your child's mind. My two year old was enchanted and loves it. I think my three year old found it a bit disconcerting, because he has a different personality, and the part where the child finds themselves inside the book and part of the story is pretty surprising for a little kid.

I love the simplicity of the story. I always loved Nicolleta Ciccoli’s illustrations and this is a fine example of how her illustration leaves something for the child’s imagination.

The images in this book are absolutely beautiful. The story is whimsical and again, the illustrations are phenomenal. They are dreamy and are everything I want in a children's book. My kids like them too. This is a great pick for little readers.

This is a story that captured my granddaughter AND me, from the very start. It has wonderful illustrations that enhance the written words. I had visions of the little girl in the castle, long after we had finished the book. It is so well written that she stayed with us and sparked great conversations. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a child that they love, to share and to treasure.

I bought this mainly because of the illustrator. The story is very short (which is why my kids don't like it very much), and perhaps just a tad dark - but it's beautiful.

The illustrations are astounding, and the story is haunting. It may be too sophisticated for the youngest of kids, but it's a sweetly quiet book for older kids and it's a lovely book for adults.

I read all of the reviews about this book, and I have to agree that it is a bit lacking in the storyline, but I really purchased it for the illustrations and the simplicity of the storyline. It is great for a young child.

The artwork in this book is absolutely beautiful, but sadly the story text was far too young for the 6 year old it was intended for. I didn't find it at all dark and scary like other reviews, in fact, there is a lovely touch at the end where readers can add their own photo to keep the girl in the castle company. I thought about keeping it for myself, but sadly am returning it. I would recommend this as a read together for 4 year olds.
