Chicks Rule!

A great book with a great message.
My 7-year-old is a phenomenal reader but hates to actually read. I got her this because I’m a fan of the illustrator, and she absolutely LOVES it. It has challenging words for a first grader, and she was so proud of herself for sounding out most of them herself. Kind of in line with the concept of the book itself - chicks most certainly do rule. As someone who works in a very male-dominated field, I can appreciate that message. I hope to see many more books like this in the future.

So cute- great message
Beautifully drawn (of course!) by Renee Kurilla with a wonderful non-preachy message. My 7 year old grabbed this out of my hands the minute she saw it and absorbed it.

Unity is needed to achieve goals.
There is plenty more about this book , that I like, than not like. It is cute. It's fun to see the illustrations of chicks looking so involved with life. The book illustrates with words and pictures that joining together and being unified (for the good of all) is effective . I would have given absolutely given 5 star, but I can't discern if the book's illustrations are only girls. I would hope it isn't excluding the value of boys. But the introduction elaborates about the nerdy bird being a she. The book's illustrations certainly unify with all diversities of people . I think the Muslim chick brings to mind the Muslim women who play sports and still wear their Muslim attire. The last 2 pages are my favorite. I love the adorable astronaut floating in outer space.
