Fantastic kit
I was so thrilled to find this kit! I broke a small dish from a very precious tea set that was given to me by my grandmother. I have kept the pieces wishing somehow that I could repair it. One day I was listening to a podcast that was describing the Japanese art of Kintsugi and discussed beautifully the metaphors of life that were held in the incredible art form. I knew immediately how I would repair my precious dish. This set appears to have everything needed for the project. While I have not yet attempted to use this kit I am very pleased with the quality of materials provided for the cost of the kit. I will take another reviewers advice and practice on a lesser valuable piece of pottery before repairing my dish. Very excited to try it!

Symbolism for life or upcycling? Yes.
Things fall apart. Beloved items crash to the floor and break into pieces. And if you are me, you scoop them up and wait for the time you can slowly try to piece them together again. Sometimes the break is clean and simple and you can slap it back together in minutes. Sometimes you hold all of the broken pieces of a beloved family heirloom and realize that it will never be the same. And that’s ok. Sometimes you have to admit that the item as you knew it is lost forever. But you can rebuild it. Change it. Make it stronger and maybe more interesting and maybe have a story about the incident that broke it.The symbolism is glaring, isn’t it? Something will break us one day. Physically, mentally, or spiritually we will be damaged. And it is through time and patience that you decide if you want to embrace the pain and use it to create beauty. All that said, this was my first attempt at kintsukuroi. It is harder than you might think. The epoxy can be messy. You can get gold glitter everywhere. I sacrificed the brush on my first attempt. But if you are calm and methodical and patient, you can rebuilt what was broken into something beautiful. My first item was a statue that was already broken into pieces when I received it. I decided to try something new with it. I decoupaged pages from a book, covering the pieces of the statue. Then I used this kit to reassemble the pieces with gold highlighting the joins. The second piece was a yarn bowl. It had been pulled off the table by a pet who was trying to play with the yarn inside. I like how you can see the gold both on the inside and outside depending on which way you turn it.The kit would probably benefit from a second brush because the glue dries pretty quickly and you have to work in small sections a little at a time. I like that the two parts of the glue are in a syringe that can easily squirt out equal amounts. I like the two gold shades. I ended up mixing them together to create a gold that I liked the best. This was especially useful as the statue had gold accents already and I wanted the overall color tone to blend.Could I have done a better job? Undoubtedly but I don’t think that my poor craftsmanship can in any way be attributed to the tools. THis is a nice way to practice visible mending and creating art from what was almost destroyed.

Honor in upcycling
I was inspired to do kintsukuroi from watching the character Nobusuke Tagomi in The Man in the High Castle do so, in one of the alternate timeline episodes. It seemed like a wonderful way to resuscitate beloved objects that broke...even if they needed to be used in another way. Some of the items I'm fixing with this kit are things like ceramic mugs. I'm so sad they broke...but I'm happy there's a way to at least put Humpty Dumpty back together again...even if I can't drink out of them....I can use them for little succulent pots and they have mesmerizing gold lines running through them now. It seems like a great kit, though I don't know anything to compare it to.

Not for Beginners, Difficult to Use
I love the concept of Kintsugi and the idea of making broken things beautiful again with gold.So I am sad that this particular kit didn't work so well. First, it didn't come with a sample piece of pottery to try. Since I didn't have anything broken at the time, I had to wait. I wasn't going to purposely break something. The kit does come with two different pots of gold powder, 2-part epoxy resin, a mixing container, gloves, stir sticks, and a paintbrush.I was able to get a small piece of pottery to break and try. Ironically, it's this company's claim that it has a 30-minute working time that was part of the problem. Ideally, you want some working time, but not a lot. This piece was broken into 6 pieces, four of them were small. Fixing the two larger pieces worked well. However, I had difficulties getting the smaller pieces together. The other problem was the size of the gloves. They were so big that it was hard to grip the smaller pieces and apply the resin. But there just wasn't enough sticky factor to make those smaller pieces bond enough to let go. I finally just started slathering it on in hopes it would bond & cure sort of smoothly. The working time is not actually 30 minutes though. It started getting stringy and even more difficult to work with at around 20 minutes. With the resin applicator, the directions said to twist the top off, but you actually just pull it off. The resin started leaking out immediately.Part of my repaired bowl looks really pretty, but the rest of it is a mess.

Definitely worth a go.
I smashed a japanese tea set, though I would give it a go to repair. Forgive my shoddy work, but this is definitely worth a go woth. Easy to use and strong.

Watch a YouTube how to video first
The product is great but instructions aren’t very clear. Worth watching one of the YouTube “how to” ‘s first, wish I had, it would have saved me time and some corrective measures. But the kur has all you need in it to achieve the effects you may want. I liked that with the 2 different gold toners I could mix or use either, or to get the best time to suit the breakage being mended. Good buy and great value for money (particularly when the toddler has been to visit and loads of repairs to practice on)

Great for a gift
I recently had the pleasure of trying my hand at Kintsugi, the artful Japanese technique of repairing broken ceramics to highlight, rather than hide, their imperfections. This kit, complete with epoxy resin and gold dust, offers a unique opportunity to breathe new life into damaged treasures. The process requires a steady hand and a bit of patience—don't rush, or you might find yourself with less than desirable results. Although my first project was not without its hiccups the end result was profoundly satisfying. The gold-filled cracks transformed a simple broken plate into a work of art, embodying the beauty of imperfection and the resilience of recovery. The kit stands out for its simplicity and the profound message it carries, making it a thoughtful gift or a personal project for anyone looking to explore the beauty in brokenness.

Resin not set
I have used this method to repair a broken ceramic before so was fairly confident in how to use it. I was repeating a broken lamp with v clean cuts. It is now 24 hours after application, and I am still waiting for this expo resin to reach its initial set. There was some leakage from one one the tubes when I opened it, but decided to forge ahead. I now think the glue is never going to set. You get one chance with this, so it looks like I am going to have to throw my lamp away . Very disappointing!

A unique repair kit
This product was sent to me to review, as part of Amazon Vine. Below is my own real-world experience of using it.I’ve never heard of Kintsukuroi before, but, I was willing to give it a go, as I have a favoured ceramic jug that had a hairline crack in the handle. I thought the gold colouring would work nicely with the red of my jug.Being totally honest, I found the set a little difficult to use - some of the instructions were confusing (for instance, telling you to ‘twist’ the glue cap 90 degrees to remove it, when actually, it is just pulled straight off). I only needed a tiny amount of adhesive, but the nozzles of the tube don’t allow for this, and they’re already leaking as soon as the cap is removed. I then accidentally tipped out far too much of the gold glitter, because it was all clumped together in its tub. Eventually, I had the solution mixed, and attempted to use the included paintbrush to cover the aforementioned crack. I could not get a clean line, the glue was too thick, bubbling up in places, whilst the brush became too rigid because of the glue. I resolved to just paint around the area as much as possible, and try to ‘feed’ it in between the broken parts (which was a little tricky, due to the angle of the damage). The end result looks ok, but I can’t yet comment on the longevity of the product. I’ll come back and update my review, should there be any change.
