I’ll admit I’d never heard of Shungite stone until I saw the product listings on Amazon. I was intrigued, so I began to research the stone and its rumored properties. Let me say that while I have an inquisitive mind, I’m also a skeptic. I DO believe, however, that there are things on this planet capable of helping many issues we humans face. Some of those things are beyond my understanding, but that doesn’t make them any less real.As I continued my research I found that mixed among the more fanciful claims were reports of animal experiments that showed shungite to be beneficial in combating inflammation and bacterial infections. In other places I read the suggestion that shungite could block some of the EMF coming from many electronic devices we have contact with. My cellphones (plus wireless charger) and tablet rest on the end table beside the couch where I sit to read and watch TV every day. If there was even the possibility that this little plate could block some of that exposure I thought it worth trying. I placed my order for a Shungite World Shungite Tile.The shungite plate arrived in a protective wrapper. I strongly suggest that anyone who purchases one of these doesn’t open it while wearing light colored clothing or over light colored furniture as it’s covered in black dust. I cleaned off the dust and found it to be a very attractive plate of shungite. The polished surface is a deep gray, almost black, and little light colored ripples can be seen through the stone. It’s nicely finished with beveled edges. I thought even if none of the claims were valid, it still made a very attractive coaster for my end table.I’m actually reluctant to relate my experience with this stone as it’s going to make me sound crazy, but here goes. We use tap water for drinking. At times the water is fine, but at other times there’s a strong chemical taste in the water (not a chlorine taste, this is different, kind of like you get with some silicone ice trays). When the water is like that the best you can hope for is that later in the day water from the faucet will taste better. I fill a large Yeti tumbler at least twice daily with ice and water and drink it during the day and through the night. I filled my tumbler and went to bed. The next morning when I took a sip of water I grimaced as it had a very strong chemical taste. I sat the tumbler on my shungite coaster and went about my day. Some time later, I picked up the tumbler for another drink of water. The water tasted great, no chemical or additive taste at all! I’ve repeated this experience several times. It’s not just my perception, I’ve had family members taste my water and they concur, the bad taste is completely gone! This completely astounds me. I had read that shungite was used for water purification, but this is not how that works. In the purification process the water actually comes into contact with the shungite. In my case I’m sitting a double-walled metal tumbler on top of a tile slab….. I have no explanation for the resulting taste change at all. There’s certainly no quality improvement when I use my marble coaster.Is the shungite responsible for the water change? I honestly don’t know, I’m just relating my experience thus far with this rock. Of course I can’t really say if it helps with the EMF issue or not, I’m hoping it does. I really have no idea of the extent of the benefits provided by this rock. Perhaps some of the claims are true, that would be awesome. In any case, I’m very pleased with my attractive shungite coaster tile. I put this next to me right on my desk when I’m working I’ve put a crystal on there for the day or I’ll set my phone on it when I first got the stone it was dusty but after wiping it off a few times all the dust went away sometimes I put it next to me on my bed and I place my phone on it I like the quality of this stone it’s pretty thick doesn’t feel brittle at all .

This arrived wrapped safely in foam. It was a black dusty mess. I washed it immediately and it dyed my sink and anything it touched black. I was able to eventually remove the staining and the tile was finally dust-free. I would have appreciated some literature on ways to use this piece. It is a lovely stone.

I'm very happy with this shungite tile. It's polished on top but not on the sides or back, so when it arrived it did have a heavy black residue. That's normal, and one of the signs that your shungite is real. I simply rinsed it under running water and wiped off the back and sides with a paper towel. This is my second item from Shungite World. I like that they state both the carbon content and source of each piece of shungite. This stone has so many uses. Many people use it to protect against EMF's. It's also very grounding and can be used to cleanse crystals. It's even been shown to purify water. There's lot's of information online. But you need to be sure you're buying the real thing. This one is.

I'm using this shungite tile as a coaster on my desk. It is really beautiful. I love the color - it's my favorite color. The veining in the stone is so interesting. I also love that this stone contains carbon - an essential element of life.The tile is very thick and is also very strong. It isn't likely this tile will break easily.The tile has beveled edges and the cut is done very well. One of the corners is a little chipped, but that is likely because of the veining in the stone at that area and not necessarily a result of the workmanship.The stone is very smooth and feels great. The tile works very well as a beverage coaster.I've read about shungite and understand some people use this stone for meditation or healing, and that may actually work, but for me, this tile appeals more to my inner science geek than anything. I really do love it!

I have absolutely no idea if the claims about the protective and purifying properties of Shungite are true or not. You'll have to decide that for yourself. I'm also not a geologist to be able to confirm if this 100x100mm tile from Shungite World is true Shungite or not. But it seems to be authentic, and even if it doesn't have any direct health benefits, it's lovely to look at and grounding to hold. Because it's a natural product, the veining in each piece will be different, but if other tiles look anything like the one I received, they should be lovely. It's not a long enough piece to accommodate my phablet, but a standard-size cell phone would probably fit on it with just a little overlap. It would also look fantastic under a crystal pyramid.

It's conductive. Has kind of a weird finish on it so if it gets wet black stuff comes off. Other than that, it works really well and it would be easy to ground and clean the energy.
