I adore this 52 set!
I didn’t need this set, at all. I have thousands of dollars of professional watercolors. But, one of my all time favorite brands of “every day” paints is Paul Rubens. I’d never tried a Pretty Excellent/MeiLiang palette but I’ve only ever heard good things. Recently I went on vacation and I really wanted to bring along a watercolor travel palette but I didn’t want to take the chance of putting any of the ones I had in my checked luggage and risk losing them or having them broken. When I got back I saw this set that had everything needed in it and I was so sad I didn’t buy it before I left. I love the convenience colors in here, especially the pastels. My art style really has a lot of pastel tones and I’ll buy any art supply if you make it in pastel color sets. I love these semi moist paints, and that the pans are filled and not those cheap extruded paint cakes. These are really nice and the rewet wonderfully. I know a lot of people value clarity in their watercolors and I do too for my realism portraits. But for my sketchbook and every day art style I really like to do line art in ink pen and then use more opaque and vibrant watercolors. These more than hit the mark for me. While I do have sets that are very lightfast- that’s not something I thought about with this palette and anyone shopping in this price range shouldn’t be either and should manage their expectations. If you are making original art to sell then sure you should definitely get some professional light fast paints. But you don’t need to worry about fugitive pigments if you’re working in a sketchbook or are making art for friends and family. I do sell some artwork but I usually scan it and sell prints or stickers so I’m more concerned with color and performance and my enjoyment in using them over lightfastness. It’s good to be informed but don’t let pigment information and lightfast information ruin your art experiences. This set is perfect for me personally. Its my go-to set for studies, sketchbooks and now travel. The pastel colors really get me inspired, get my creativity going and are so nice to use and make me happy. I truly enjoy using this set. This would be an excellent gift for anyone new watercolor. It has everything you need to start creating. Its truly beautiful to look at and to use. I love all my paints and all my Paul Rubens but with this set I feel much more free to create and experiment because I don’t feel that “too expensive/too precious to use” feeling. I can actually sit down and enjoy my time and playing and having fun… which is what art is all about. Even the most professional artists need a set that makes them happy to use and they enjoy using- regardless of what pigments or binders are in it. This is excellent quality and no one who is looking at this listing for this price would be disappointed. You cannot go wrong with this set for a budget set. Have fun with this one- it’s perfect for that.

Wow, what pigment and great deal for what u get
This was a really nice that I was pleasantly surprised. I have a lot of other sets. I wanted to get something that was a little higher quality and I had seen this one, but I didn’t know it was made by the same company that makes good quality watercolor paints I gave it a try and I was impressed. It came with everything I needed to watercolor, but I already had stuff anyways it’s a great starter for someone that doesn’t have anything. It came with paper, paintbrushes, pencil, permanent marker, and all these beautiful colors full of pigment.

Nice watercolors!
Rich pigments and easy to blend. My 11 year old was so impressed and felt like a seasoned artist using them. I wish I bought a set for myself. I hope they become available again.

Great set for artists and beginners
These MeiLiang paints are made by the same company as Paul Ruben’s paints. Almost enough said by that. The colors are vibrant and easily reconstituted. They are heavy with pigment and swatch very easily. I was so pleased with this set that I have two. I have one in a blue tin and one in a two toned pink and blue tin. Both are very nice. The last ones I received were in the half pans stuck (not permanently) into a plastic base inside the tin. I prefer working from the pans over an entire plastic palette. The enclosed color chart indicates that all of the standard colors have a 4 star lightfast rating other than the white which has 5 star. There isn’t a rating on the metallics. I would highly recommend this set to any artist or beginner.

This is a fun set!
These are not professional watercolors, but they are very vivid, and are fun for creating bright colors in projects. Most paints layer and blend well. Some of the more opaque colors do not layer and blend as well.

Bang for buck
Meilaing watercolors are above average student grade watercolors. Great price for beginners with much better quality for similarly priced items. Decent quantity of single pigments, and enough convenience colors to learn with.

Excellent value
This is a great travel kit for watercolour enthusiast, who want to hop in their car, and go paint some thing inspired by nature! It has every colour that you need and mixes well to create other colours within the same palette. The colours are vibrant and do not clump up like some other watercolour kits I have used. Great value for the price point… This is especially great for people who are just starting out in Watercolour and do not want to spend a lot of money on the more expensive tube brands that are out there such as Holbein, Golden, Daniel Smith, etc. I have purchased a second set with a slightly different pallet that contains metallics. The metallics are also wonderful. Enjoy! Highly recommended!

Fun kit but not on student/professional lvl
I bought this set as an update after my disappointment with art creation watercolors. The one picture shows the direct comparison of a sketch with the cheaper "art brand" . I was amazed how colorful the paint is.BUT if you wanna improve as an artist I would suggest you to Look on student grade paint or switch to proffesional lvl (even if it's only a basic mixing set of 6 primary colors) - you will have more of them.If you are really into learning watercolor, the limit of learning will be reached really fast with them. Since the pigments are not pure, mixing is difficult . Lots of colors are opaque, even if they should be translucent.I upgraded really fast to the brand "White nights" (proffesional pigment on a budget) and the difference is huge! This set is fun and great for everyone who is not serious about getting a watercolorist. F.e I I still love it for bullet journaling, because it makes it easy just to go for the color you want.

Really lovely to work with
I bought these paints having not long since got back into watercolour painting. The original paints I tried to start with were far too cheap and were chalky, wouldn't mix on the paper and cracked into dust when they dried. So coming from that background, I wanted a better quality set and found this set with excellent reviews and competitively priced. What can I say? They are delightful to use, creamy and silky on the brush, melt together beautifully on the paper and dry perfectly. The colours are very rich and deeply pigmented so you only use a little. While I'm no expert, I can say I'm thoroughly enjoying using them and would highly recommend them.
