Worked great
The bottom of the handle on my GE above counter microwave broke. I could have bought a replacement handle but I didn’t want to mess with removing the back of the door. I got a REALLY STRONG liquid epoxy and used this clamp to hold the handle while the epoxy dried. It wasn’t much effort the only clamp at a reasonable price with the clamp dimensions that would fit to clamp the handle securely to the door. The handle is still on months after applying and the total cost of the epoxy and clamp was less than a new handle.

The yellow grippers fall off
Bought these to clamp the lids on my large mobile trash containers. We get high winds that were blowing the lids open. They are easy to install and take off with one hand. There are four cans. The one I used as a test before ordering turns out to have a different form factor. The 2" clamp fits the front perfectly. The other cans have an overhang as a lift handle. I can only attach the clamp on the side. I "borrowed" one from my husband's wood working equipment as a test. It fit my small hand and the test can perfectly. They are a tight fit, and pulling them off can cause the yellow plastic grips to come off.

Careful of ends
These are so helpful when attaching small parts to hold or glue up parts to existing projects. But, I found that holding a thin piece of wood perpendicular to another small piece of wood has its problems keeping the clamp square.More than this though, the end pieces of the clamp are only help in place by a small detention or hole in the main clamp and dimples on the end pieces. THEY WILL COME LOOSE OR OFF. No worries, just pop them back on. But, it is an annoyance. No biggie but just be aware. On the other hand the small clamps by Irwin (4 1/2”) or DeWalt are better for holding these small pieces. The throat of the DeWalt is deeper than the Irwin. Please check this against your projects. The next step up on clamp sizes are easy to use but not as lightweight to hold really small pieces. Again, please check your project for what’s best.I hope this may help.

Irwin Name. Quality in Engineering and Manufacturing
Have a whole set up these. They work great when you are NOT an octopus. One handed clamping. Quick release when you are done. Irwin are SUPER INTELLIGENT. Between VISE GRIPS and many other ground breaking inventions they are a mechanics BEST FRIEND

Fits in places other clamps can't
These are really small and not for construction or heavy use. They have a toothed ratchet mechanism so they are going to relax a bit to the last engaged tooth. They do a great job overall when other clamps will not work. Binder clips from a stationary store will do a better job for most applications. These will not open 1.5". You might get a piece as large as 1.375" in the jaws with a bit of luck.

These work great for my purposes
I'm not sure what people are trying to use these for in all of the negative reviews but I'm surprised at the lack of love for these things. I haven't used these for extreme scenarios like hooking train cars together, but when I use them around the house there is nothing else that can take their place.Whether it is holding wood together while the glue is drying, holding bags of stuff up on rafters, etc. The benefit of these is the ease of use and portability. You only need one hand to get it open and closed. They are lightweight so they are easy to carry around. I used to use spring clamps for some work, but on lightweight woods, they would leave indents from the grip. The positive side of these clamps is that you can control how much pressure to apply.

Worse than Useless
If I could give this less than 1 star I would. This item is totally useless for anything. I have multiple other Irwin tools and they all work and I was surprised that this one barely gets a 1 by most people. Please take note, they weren't joking. I didn't want it to grip 2 items sturdily together although it is useless for that, all I wanted was to hold a part that is bolted to another part while I removed and replaced bolts 1 at a time. The ratcheting is a joke. Even if you use the strength of superman it simply won't click and tighten and quite literally falls off, it isn't just loose. I can honestly say this is the worst tool I have ever purchased and I have bought some pretty crap tools from cheap foreign tool suppliers and this even makes them look good. I am returning it for a refund. PLEASE don't waste your money buying this piece of junk.Addendum the supplier has given me a full refund, a big thankyou to them and to Amazon.
