WARNING California's Proposition 65 SAS - SAN ANTONIO SHOEMAKERS: The story of the San Antonio Shoemakers(SAS) family begins with its founders, Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden. The two first met in Pittsfield, Maine, but their passion for making quality footwear led them to San Antonio, Texas. After working for a local shoe company, Terry and Lew struck out on their own. Today, we continue to handcraft our shoes from only the softest, highest quality leather. Just one pair of shoes may go through up to 100 different steps. There are 14 primary operations that take place in our factories like leather selection, die-making, cutting, lasting and more. Within those operations, approximately 80 different skilled pairs of hands are carefully constructing and inspecting each shoe to make sure the SAS shoes you choose are the best made pair of footwear in your closet.

Great shoe
This might be the best kitchen shoe I’ve worn so far. The soles are very slip resistant. They are a little noisy from sticking to floor is my only complaint. Surprisingly light as well

My Favorite Shoes!
There is no doubt that SaS makes great shoes. I first learned about them from a friend who is diabetic. (And, yes, they are Medicare-approved for Diabetics.) The leather is top quality that's treated to resist water, the soles are the non-slip type, and the quality of workmanship is first-rate. I have high arches and insteps and I particularly like the long lacing area that gives me a secure fit. Also, the fit on my 13W feet is dead on. I've only tried the Guardian and the Move On models. The Move Ons were a disappointment as they are wider than the Guardians and have a small lacing area that doesn't give a very secure fit. We have very hot summers where I live and they are nice for when my feet swell up, but I would not buy them again. You can't go wrong with the Guardians. My only complaint is that they only come in black - they'd look really nice in a chestnut brown. Maybe SaS will do something about that, but it's probably a cost issue. That being said, these rather expensive shoes are so comfortable that, assuming they are durable and last a long time, they are worth every penny.
