Very useful guide for HCMC
This book provided many ideas for me to see and do during a long visit to Saigon. I have a strong interest in history and I particularly liked the Walking Tour section. It takes you to historically interesting sites and conveniently organizes them into a self-guided tour that can be done in one or two days (depending on the heat and your stamina) and explains the importance of what you're seeing. The Major Sites section was also useful for suggestions on places to go and see. The food section looked very helpful if you're not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. One thing I would add if a revision is ever made, is to include Airbnb options in the lodging chapter. I stayed at one around the Landmark area in Binh Thanh which I was quite happy with and I think this option is an affordable one that also gives you much more square footage during your stay. All in all, this is a great guide with a lot of detail if you're going to be spending significant time here, far more detail than you'll find in a Lonely Planet book and is more up-to-date. Saigon is an extremely hectic and confusing place, if you don't bring a book like this with you, you're going to miss out on a lot of stuff there is to see and do.
