Though dated, it still is very good read and sheds light on the inner workings of trading.

It is the book which gives the working of modern stock exchanges and how to do day trade successfully

This is the first book I brought on trading and really it is the only one you need. It gives the the history and the basics of stock trading. If you follow the adivce given in this book you will do well. Don't expect immediate returns. It takes time to get experinced. I've read many other books but this one gives you all you need. If you can't get going with this book give up!!
