Soweto Gospel Choir: Live at the Nelson Mandela Civic Theatre

Just enjoyed this vibrant, life-giving, high energy group of African performers. Their Gospel singing is deeply spiritual and inspirational. The English translation for their songs are written on the inside of the DVD folder, which means I can really enter into the beauty and depth of their songs. We have seen this choir live a couple of times, and this DVD brought so many of those wonderful memories back to me. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who lives African Soul music or Gospel music generally. The costumes are also amazingly bright and colorful, as we have come to expect and enjoy from African cultures.

It is the best of the African Gospel Choirs and I get to practice my Zulu while I sing with the choir!

I've been a huge admirer and fan of this choir since 2006. They never disappoint and their musical gift is a blessing each and every time I see them in person or play a CD. This DVD just reminds me over and over again why I love them so. Even my toddler daughter is soothed and entertained by their music. Unexpectedly, their slower songs became her source of lullaby music at three weeks old! She enjoys them so much, she now asks for her "music." Their performances in various languages don't matter either--everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or age, should experience the harmonious sounds of SGC...if you haven't, you are truly missing out.

...is the opportunity to see this group in live performance. I did that this past fall (and treated 8 people to this concert) and I look forward to seeing them again.

Beautiful, colorful images. Crisp sound. Absolutely inspired singing and dancing. Some songs caused tears to stream down my face. Others made me want to get up and dance. Still others offered comfort and hope in this difficult journey called life. All of this with only a few songs in english. God truly speaks through these people. Hear and see them!

This choir is God's gift to music lovers of all ages. Their voices are on point as are their moves. Though they sing in many languages, their sound is superb so it won't matter. However, if you want to know what they are saying, you can find this information on line.

I saw the Soweto Gospel Choir first in South Africa in 2000, then again in Tallahassee in 2012. This video captures the essence of the joyous nature of this genre of music indigenous to South Africa. I highly recommend it.

A lovely DVD the only one I was able to get not in region 1. Very good sound quality and a feeling of being there. Would make a really nice gift for anyone who needs a bit of an uplift.
