Solved the Problem!
Our computer chair was scratching our wood floor. I didn't want a plastic chair mat, I wanted a low pile mat similar to outdoor carpeting. This one is perfect and it stays in place!! Smoothed out flat within seconds. This chair mat may not last a long time but at this price point I'll just order another one since I'm extremely happy with it.

Excellent mat for working from home
My apartment has wood floors, so I wanted to get a mat for my chair that would not only protect my floor but also lessen the noise for my downstairs neighbor. This thing is great! It cut the rolling noise to almost zero because it is a carpet quality. It comes with a "sticky" side - which isn't really sticky at all - that keeps it from bunching up when you roll across it. The only downside is that hair (human and dog) sticks to it a little, but that's basically any carpet-like material, so I'm not upset about it. You just have to vacuum it.UPDATE: it's now been over a year since I bought this mat and it is going STRONG. In fact, I came here to write a glowing review, having forgotten that I'd already done so! After a year of working from home 5 days a week and rolling my office chair around, it still looks and works as if new. I also adopted a cat a couple months ago and she loves it! She can scratch at it and it shows little sign of wear. She loves to sprint across the room and skid to a stop on it and it's held up well so far. It's still flat on the edges and sticking to the floor as it should. I've also moved it a few times and it's still working great. Overall: buy this if you need a mat for your floor! In terms of usefulness, practicality, and cost, it might be the best thing I've ever purchased off Amazon. They didn't even pay me to say that!

4 months later and it still looks good
I bought a competing brand that didn't last more then 3 months. It came folded and the creases never came out. After about 90 days it started to fray on the edges and completely break down. This one is a huge improvement. Since it was shipped rolled it was extremely easy to install and lay completely flat. After 4 months of use it still looks great with no signs of wear and tear. It definitely pays to spend a little more for a better quality product.

Keeps getting dent and doesn’t stay flat
This didn’t work out for me. I had to return it. I use it for my low-profile carpet but it doesn’t stay flat. Moving the chair around causes it to pop up. It also creates a dent in the mat from the wheels of my chair. I’m about 180-185lbs, so not sure if that matters but I’d prefer the mat staying flat all the time when I move around in my chair. The black finish is nice, but it can pick up marks and scratches easily. Mine came with a bunch of white scratch marks on it. It was tough to clean out. Maybe it’ll stay flat over time, I don’t know. I didn’t have the patience for it since it kept getting dents from the wheels.

Garbage.
For starters, it arrived utterly filthy and covered in dog or cat hair as if this was returned and resold or just chilled unboxed on a warehouse floor for weeks. It's rolled up tight and doesn't unroll - a single person can't do it. You need to have at least 3 people - 2 to unroll a side and hold and 1 to weigh the corners. It must have sat in a box under extreme heat because it's basically solidified in rolled form. I've weighed it down for 24 hours and STILL it won't stay flat. The cheap material is extremely riddled with static so it's difficult to even clean. The spikes are obscenely sharp (the bloody holes in my fingers unrolling this can attest) to the point I have concern it will rip up my carpet. The pictures of the product all appear to be photoshops or computer generated images. The actual product is not nearly as neutral and sleek as the images suggest. It's an extremely glossy and cheap looking plastic. It's yet to flatten and I am already shopping for something else. I am just now seeing tons of recent reviews with the same issues. No idea why such con of a product is allowed to be sold.DO. NOT. BUY.

For me, it worked great
I bought this about 4 years ago. Not sure if the product has changed since then, but it's been solid for me. I initially didn't realized the film was supposed to be removed. So 4 years in, I finally removed the film and it sticks to the floor very well. (not so much prior to film removal) It's not sticky like tape, it's sticky like on of those rubber window stickers. You probably need a semi-smooth floor for it to work. Mines installed on faux wood laminate with medium texture and it sticks well. I bought this because the hard chair wheels crack the laminate panel edges, solved that problem. The rug material, for me, hasn't degraded at all. I don't have cats or dogs so it's seen only chair wheels. Some reviews are saying the underside removed floor finish. IMO it appears that the foamy pad actually ripped off of the mat an stayed on the wood floor. A little goo gone would take that up no problem. The rug is super low pile, similar to what you would find on some pretty cheap, thin carpet. It's a chair mat so that's not really an issue.

It will crack after less than a year.
When the mat arrived, unrolling it and leaving the corners weighted down for 3 days did not eliminate the bend and creases left in it from the packaging. I had to pin two corners down underneath my desk to get it to lie relatively flat, and the uncovered corners still curled up for weeks after the fact. Most disappointingly, after less than a year of use, my 150lb self and my moderately heavy chair (certainly sub-200lb total weight) have left a number of cracks in the mat.

Great option for hardwood / laminate floors
Works just as described - make sure the floor is well cleaned before laying it out and it adheres very securely. Time will tell about durability but it seems sturdy so far

Does what it says on the tin but not pretty
So far nothing to write home about or complain about. Does exactly what you need to protect the floor from scratches from your chair but it isn't going to win any beauty awards.

Flexible for for mailing at 2 flexible but not ridged enough for the floor
Flexible for freight but not enough for the floor fold to easily

Doesn’t lie flat and is permanently creased
The mat arrived folded tightly into squares (not rolled as advertised) and the mat has retained these multiple creases even after being lain flat. It had a very strong chemical smell initially but this has subsided. This is the sort of items that needs to be rolled for despatch as advertised. This seller needs to be removed from the marketplace.
