All and all, as others have said, this is a complete kit. And compact. Very compact.For some that will be a great thing. It is lightweight, tucked into a reusable heavy-ish duty plastic bag, and it's nice to see that every component has it's own smaller bag inside. It's organized and has almost every piece of tackle you need. Almost.People love pros and cons, so let me get right to it.Pro:1. Price / value: This is a very modestly priced fishing kit. And you do get high quality components within the kit. As others have stated, the included back-lock knife is very serviceable. I wouldn't do any heavy cutting or carving with it, but for scaling, cutting line, and even gutting fish it will do the trick.2. Compactness: This is a light kit, with small parts. I'm sure it's waterproof and ready to slide into your glove box, bug out bag, or a coat pocket. Heck, even a decent size jean pocket.3. This is the only kit that has a hand-reel unit. In fact, I had problems even finding one for purchase outside of this kit. The line comes pre-spooled on it and it is one of the reasons I decided on this kit.Cons:1. Remember when I said it was compact? Well, it is. Very. The worms, hooks, spool, and knife are far smaller than it might first appear. I will attach a photo of the gear in relation to a familiar object to show just how small. I worry that this might not be enough to catch a decent - large catfish. Which is what I'd be looking to catch in my area.2. The line. I wish there was either a.) a stronger test line (it comes with a generous amount of 10 lb test) or b.) a variety of different strength lines. Again, I fear that a ten lb test line might snap while trying to pull out a big(ger) fish. Especially when you don't have a reel that can allow for drag.All in all, I'm happy that I purchased this kit. However, because of the cons I detailed above, I am actually going to supplement this kit with another. This other kit, which will remain nameless, has mini-bobbers, stronger test line, and larger lures and hooks.However, this kit is not misleading. It is clearly stated what comes in this kit and I will not fault the product or seller for my own misconceptions of size. PLUS, I do rather love this kit. It has a lot of neat tools that I just prefer to supplement. Your mileage may vary.PS. The CEO wrote me a personal letter of thanks with my item. And while this in no way influences this review, I think that was a classy move. He's got a solid product, so he gets a solid review.

Before spotting this kit, I had expected that I would be putting together various pieces to construct a custom fishing kit for the 72 hour emergency backpack I'm putting together. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I never expected to find something as perfect for my needs as this kit. In addition to the usual components, the included hand line winder had me sold. And I never expected to get a serviceable folder knife in addition -- all for only 10 bucks!. I wound up buying a second one as a gift and was very pleasantly surprised when along with the second kit, I received a letter from the VT CEO along with a Micro fishing kit as a gift that is perfect for including in an Every Day Carry pouch.

I am very pleased with this kit as a whole. First off the selection of items is fair to say the least. The knife is of much better quality than I had anticipated. It it obviously a cheap folding knife, but there is no wiggle, it's sharp, and it ergonomicly fits. I have no qualms about this kit really at all. Also I like how most of the items are in their own recloseable ziplocks, and there's room in the bag to easily get it all back in the main bag as well as add a few choice pieces if you wish. For the price I would strongly recommend this for any hunting pack, bug out bag, emergency kit or anything of the sort.

Perfect for your apocalypse survival bags. The components are small, high quality, and far cheaper than having to build the set from scratch.

This little kit has everything you need to go fishing in an emergency. You might want to add a few things, but you really don't have to. There are instructions, hooks, line, sinkers, swivels, and even a small knife, all packaged in a heavy-duty zip-lock bag. This is a good addition to your bug-out bag, or just to have.

I have bought other kits similar in nature to this, but I will only but this one from here on out. The quality of this kit far surpasses others of similar size and capacity, and the number of items in the kit is more expensive too. It may cost a couple extra dollars, but I think it's money well spent

It's great little fishing kit to keep in your bug out bag or vehicle glove compartment. Contains enough to attempt to catch a fish in an emergency. Definitely worth few dollars to have around.

This is just something you throw in your kit and forget about it...... Until you NEED it. It's basic, cheap, and thorough..
