Q: I bought this slicer and find it awkward to use. the push top does not slide well. i am surprised at the good reviews. am i using it wrong?

No, you are not wrong. The push top does not work easily, especially when you get down to the last few slices.

Q: how is this item powered? is it rechargeable or does it use battery?

No it does not have power or battery. It is a manual spiralizer - you turn the top knob with your hand. Sounds intense but it’s actually a very sharp smooth blade. I spiralized two zucchinis in just a few minutes.
