solve my problem "no display" and VGA red light on boot of new build. motherboard had HDMI, CPU supported it and monitor has display port connection. this device resoloved it, worked like a charm

It never worked for me, even on a brand new PC and with new cables.It would have been nice if it had worked though.

Works with Dock Station and KVM but not on right side
The adaptor comes with a USB power cable that plugs into the left side of the adapter. If you have another port to the left of you HDMI port you can't use the separate power cable and they don't seem to make a right-hand version. Fortunately, the adapter seems to work without the external power supplied but the directions don't make any mention of this.The good news is that despite the description saying its incompatible with docking stations and KVM switches that exactly how I'm using it. I have two Dell laptops, each going to a Dell docking station. I then have the two docking stations plugged the AV Access IDock D23 3-monitor KVM switch. The KVM switch has only DisplayPort video inputs but the docking station has 2 DisplayPort and 1 HDMI video output. I'm using this adapter to go from the HDMI output on the docking station to the DisplayPort input on the KVM switch which, so far, is working without issue.

Not for more refresh rate purpose
This was a cheaply made converter. If you are trying to convert hdmi to DisplayPort then it works fine. If you are trying to get higher refresh rate, I’d doesn’t work. Don’t pull the dp cord out to hard

Does what it says! Was able to use these and a DP docking station for 2 monitors on older laptop
As the headline says, with these converters I was able to set up a laptop that only had a single HDMI out to a docking station with display port connections. Was able to replace the higher end set up a friend had so they could continue to work from home on their personal and lower cost laptop!! Saved the day!
