A good resource to know India
A comprehensive story of the development of the internal boundaries of India state-by-state. Shri Sanjeev has gone in depth to understand the nuances of politics, peoples' aspirations, history, economics etc. to come out with a satisfactorily exhaustive narrarive. It shows that the process of formation of stateboundaries has the flavour of century-old traditions and events and is never ending; even the independence of India was just an event in it, not the initiator. The book is complicated, somewhat dry, but an excellent resource to understand India. For me connecting this book with 1857 revolution and American Civil War gives a wide new perspective about what freedom actually means!

This book is a classic work .
This book is written quite lucidly , easily readable by almost everyone who wants to know the conditions in which the states are carved . According to the learned author, he penned this book primarily from secondary sources . I had already read books namely the integration of princely states by V.P. Menon, the states re-organisation by Gyanesh kudasiya . The speciality of this book is the colorful maps of all the periods in which re-organisation of states occurred is provided . After V.P.Menon's and Gyanesh Kudasiya's book , I think this book will quench the thirst of knowledge for those who crave for the topic of post-independence consolidation and Re-organisation of states of India. In fact a distinction is given between "Instrument of Accession" and "Merger Agreement" , which is quite rarely found in books. I would like to thank and congratulate the author for bringing this book which is a one stop solution for the topic which is present in the syllabus of UPSC CSE and also State PCS exams like UPPCS. A must read for the aspirants of Civil services exam , this book will complement the coaching material on the topic "post independence consolidation and re-organisation" .
