Love this thing!!!!
I wasn’t certain this would work bc my brother, a professional Jazz musician, said I needed an audio interface. I’m just a singer/songwriter kinda guy and wanted something that would allow me to record my guitar using my DAW. Worked seamlessly using Windows 7. It took a few minutes to download the drivers, which the Roland Cable did w/o having me do more than plug it into my computer...pretty much plug n play. No Audio interface required! Love this thing. I can’t speak to durability yet, it appears sturdy enough, and is well within range of most folks as far as price.

Works like a champ.
Plug-and-play without issue. (Windows 11)

Pretty good.
This is a good product. Doesn’t require any updating, it’s just ready to go out of the box. I will say that the width of the usb end is really wide and could become a problem if you have multiple usbs fairly close to each other

Simple but works well
There were 2 choices for this converter, some off brand I never heard of, and Roland. Roland was $1 more, so I went with it. I have never owned anything Roland, but the company has a good reputation, and reviews on the other brand said it had a low hum. Well, so far, this one has a low hum, esp when distortion is on for my guitar. I'm not sure if its feedback or what. For $30 I cant complain. I have been through my fair share of $100 audio interfaces, and would up selling them because of problems I ran into them and their drivers. Next on I buy I plan on laying down the dough for a good one. But for now, I just wanted something to record my electric guitar for some remixes I'm composing. After I purchased, I realized that it was 16 bit, not 24 bit, but its ok for my guitar. I'm doing simple stuff. 24 bit would be optimal, so if you want to record something with more dynamics, like experienced guitar solos or record voice with a dynamic mic, this probably won't do the trick. But if you're using it with your daw to practice or record simple stuff, its worth it. It works great with Asio4all! It's also great for any guitarist to take with them easily, and just plug and play with any daw you come in contact with. Easier than transporting an audio interface, and, there is no driver to download. Overall, I think this is a good product!

Could use a little more gain and resolution
This isn't a bad cable for the price and it gets the job done, as it usually doesn't work out to plug your guitar directly into your soundcard. This cable has built-in electronics to provide gain, A/D conversion, to connect to a USB port. This also avoids issues of impedance matching on the computer end. While everything works in essentially a plug and play fashion (although connecting the USB input to your guitar or recording software is up to you to work out), there are a couple of issues. The USB end is USB 2, not USB 3. That's not a big thing as you don't need a ton of throughput for a guitar signal. But the gain could be better. I found the output signal to be weaker than I wanted, even with the guitar volume pot turned up all the way. Of course, a lot will depend on your particular pickup. The A/D conversion is 16 bit. That's well enough but today's audio standard is 24 bit. While 16 bit will give you enough dynamic range, 24 bit might have given you less noise at the low end.Perhaps I'm looking for champagne performance from a beer-priced cable, but these, I think, are things to be aware of.The physical build of the cable is okay. It won't stand up to rough use, but since you're most likely to just use it in a home or studio, it's good enough.Three stars overall. Nothing special, neither bad nor good.

my old mac had an audio in. my new one doesn't
let me start out by saying I saw one star reviews for this saying it doesn't work with garageband. Let me state, that is solely why I purchased this. My old imac had an audio in. My new imac has a headphone jack that can also work as an audio in... for a TRRS cable mic. Otherwise, when you plug in a mono line in, it thinks it's headphones and you can't record your signal. This USB cable was immediately detected by my imac and was very easy to set up to record with garageband. You just need to go to the system preferences, then sound settings and for input select the usb device. Then do the same thing when adding a track in garageband. It took about 10 seconds to set up.

Normally Roland puts out good product
Purchased this item 3 months ago to play guitar through computer. Initially worked great. Today I was trying to play and kept getting static and couldn't figure out why. They I jiggled the cord a bit and realized the cord was creating the static. Then the cord 'feel' out out the 1/4' insert. You see other connectors similar and far less expensive, but I went with Roland as I have used their cords before. I'm not so happy that the item only lasted 3 months and it's way after the return period.I guess I'll shop a bit and see if something else is made better.
