Great insights into what makes a productive team
I highly recommend this book to those wanting to learn more about team dynamics and how to make a team more efficient and productive. The book includes a section on how to start a highly efficient team but I found the sections on how to improve existing teams more valuable. Chapters also describe how to observe current teams and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. Specific, recommended actions are also included which I found be insightful. The book opened my eyes to the different characteristics that go into making a great team.

A must read for every leader and team
This is a practical experience-driven book of real stories, frameworks and tools for helping teams navigate challenges to thrive in a way where the combined team experience and results really are bigger than any individual team member. It’s a realistic book that frames hard thought provoking questions which if facilitated could lead to meaningful commitments, remove blame, excuses and some of the frustrations which can come from old habits or different cultures, generations and conflicting expectations or interests. I’ve picked it up at least 20 times since I read it just to reference something.

Immediately Useful
As a longtime leadership and organizational development profression in the higher ed and non-profit spaces, I found this to be one of the very best books on team development focused on growing a group into a highly functioning synergistic team. What especially surprised me, though, is how this book gave me unexpected insights as I prepared to present my first art workshop with my art partner. It was a great reminder that teams can be as small as two people. There was much widom here that helped me and my partner clarify our communication processes and roles. Were were able to reflect on many of the learnings and discuss them in advance - it helped inform us to deliver a highly successful workshop - and one where we both left feeling great about our team/partnership.I highly recommend!

A Fresh Approach to Team Development
A fresh approach to team development from practical hands-on experience. Too many books on this subject are a repackage of previous organization development approaches. “Growing Groups into Teams” gave me new insight and tools. I loved the treatment and use of the “Promise” for bolstering commitment among team members and gap analysis. Leaders of organizations and consultants will find value in this read. I’ve already bought copies for my clients.Don DeVitoOD Consultant

Excellent book about the core company building skill of having conversations and building teams
I've been working with Kobe Bogaert and his team at Altus Growth Partners since 2013 in helping me and my executive team build our company through strategic planning and conflict resolution. He has been an invaluable resource to us and every month we meet with him I and we learn something new. This book encapsulates the foundation of the Altus Growth philosophy of having authentic/difficult conversations and building teams. The book outlines the philosophy, the purpose, the structure and the variations of the types of conversations we should all be having. And, the book uses real scenarios in business to help illustrate how to have these conversations. And, having difficult and authentic conversations, along with making strong commitments, is the foundational skill of building strong teams. This book is an excellent resource for anyone who is trying to build any type of organization to get something done: a team, a project, a company, a government... I highly recommend it and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
