Excellent Way to Learn!
Reading Spanish and English side by side. I can't think of a better way to learn the language. I loved these stories. Learning the grammar was tedious, but in my opinion essential. Reading the stories was enjoyable. Grammar for the basis, reading and conversing to make advancement. So, having the tool of side by side stories provides a convenient and delightful way to make advancement! IMHO.

Excelente libro.
Este es un libro excelente que incluye uno de los cuentos de Rómulo Gallegos que había estado buscando durante algunos años y no había podido encontrar: Los inmigrantes, publicado en el año 1922.

Some Very Good Stories
I ordered this dual language book to help me with my self-taught Spanish. The problem I've had with it is that I read on what I would guess to be about a sixth grade level while many of the stories are probably senior high school or college level. I know from reading the English version that the stories are good, but they're just way above my current abilities. The three or four stories that are closer to my reading skills are very enjoyable and I hope to be able to improve enough over time to read all of the stories with little difficulty. It would be helpful if foreign language book descriptions would give a rough estimate of their reading level.

Excellent for brushing up on spanish
The author/editor made some good choices of stories and laid out the paragraphs well so that the left page lines up with the right, the words are sometimes changed from english to spanish in order to make it more conversational but the majority is a very close translation.

but for intermediate learners this is a great resource.
Using it for a book club. Some of the Spanish is very old (because of the era), but for intermediate learners this is a great resource.
