It is a good hiking shoe
First of all, I like the shoe and it is very comfortable. I would buy it again. That's good but I've only wore it three times. My background: I am 75 years old and walk my dog two times a day. The path is in the wooded area in the back of my house. It is a 1/4-mile trail up and down through some pretty good bumps and valleys. I had Foxelli Men’s Hiking Boots for 2 1/2 years and they were giving out and water coming in. You may ask the wisdom of buying boots just to walk the dog. My dog is not the best trained dog that has come down the pike. He is a Newfoundland-Lab mix and weighs 120 pounds. When I use to walk him with street shoes, I took a tumble twice. Once when there was mud and the next time trying to help my dog catch a deer. I know what a face plant and dragging through the woods feels like. The Foxelli boots were good and got me a few years. It did give me a blister at first, but it went away and never had problems. The new Merrell Men's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot is great so far. It seems to have a tighter grip than the last shoes. It is very comfortable, and it is waterproof. I always see post that say they will update later and never do. If I think about it, I will but remember the age of the person typing this review. Great hiking boot, looks good, and I would definitely buy it again.

The best ones yet!
I've had great luck with Merrell Moab Mid boots. I've had the originals, the Moab 2s, and now, the Moab 3s. I was in a store recently and was wearing my Moab 2s and tried on the 3s. It was a revelation! The 3s have more structure and bit firmer sole which helps me as so much of my hiking is gravely/rocky cross country high desert. Immediately comfortable right out of the box and know they will break in slightly. The EVA midsole is a concern for everybody as they can disintegrate in time with lack of use and, particularly, in humid climates. As mentioned, I live in the high desert and have yet to have an issue with the EVA midsoles. In addition to the Moab Mid boots, I also have two pairs of the Moab shoes (I think gen 2) that are also holding up well.I'm a day hiker, no longer a backpacker so can't speak to that use but I often carry a day pack of 10-15 pounds (I'm 6', 160#) but it's not for rucking, it's because I need certain survival gear as I'm alone in the backcountry for most of my hikes. All the generations of Moabs I've owned are also great for in town wear. Their waterproof rating is, shall we say, generous. You're not going to stay dry fording a creek or in heavy rain but they work fine in dry snow if it doesn't come over the top of your boot. I wear a variety of merino wool blend socks of midweight so do consider your sock's thickness when your sizing these. I wear a 12 in Moabs but in most shoes (like Sperry Top-Siders or Clarks desert boots), I find 11.5 fits better.

Liked it so much the first time, ordered another
I am a creature of habit. When I find something that works, I stick with it. I have been thrilled with this boot. Comfortable, and hardy. The waterproof and sole of the boot have held up well for about a year and only recently have started to come apart. These are my daily shoes and have quite a bit of use (and I wasn't necessarily the lightest on my feet). My primary reason for ordering this new one is to have it waterproof going into the wet months here on the farm. Always nice to be able to walk through the snow with dry socks.

Comfortable but not really waterproof
These are really comfortable shoes, waited till I had 100 miles before writing this review to make sure I gave them a chance. My feet never ache after a day of hiking..The con and only con is that they're not really waterproof, they will handle some light things but the moment water gets on the top part of the shoe in front.. it will seep through eventually if it is for extended periods. I am not even walking through water, just tall wet grass in the morning with morning dew.. after 30-40 minutes my feet will start to get soaked, by a couple hours, they are soaked completely.Because the shoes are waterproof, they do not dry as fast as fast drying shoes because the moisture gets trapped. I am going to see how they perform in the winter..

they feel comfortable and warm. :)
I ordered the wide to accommodate my foot but also if i want to use thick socks. these boots are comfortable, they seem warm, and i'll be using them on a trip tomorrow. looking forward to it. only concern is the nylon eyelets that can probably be easily pulled out if the laces are pulled tighter. if that happens i suggest you dab some super glue and stick it back in the material or find a cobbler to repair it.

Comfortable and perfect fit!
Put them on and they felt like they were making e for me. Had to order an 11.5W when I usually wear a 10.5W or 11W. Tried them on at store and knew size I needed. Saved $60. Paid $89 instead of $149 because I ordered the color called Olive. It is not green but greige and shines either gray or brown depending on the light. Love the color!

Comfortable and Light
I have worn these hiking boots only a few times. I have used them with a light daypack and a full pack, about thirty pounds, and find them to be very comfortable. They are lightweight, but I feel that they support my feet well even with a full pack while walking on rock and roots. I am very happy with these boots, and they have been a good feel on my feet from the first hike. They keep my feet dry too. That’s important!

Great boots for day hikes
I got these boots for a week long vacation in Colorado where we did day hikes nearly every day. Not super long distances each day, but probably 5-10 miles in general. Went through small streams and on a wide variety or terrain (almost all maintained trails) and never had any problems. Very comfortable, no wet feet. Only minor complaint is that they seem a little small. I wear size 10 in other Merrell shoes, but these in 10 were a bit snug. Unfortunately by the time I discovered this, they were used and I couldn't change them for a different size. I'd probably recommend walking around a lot in your house before taking them outside (so you can exchange them if needed).

Watch the sizing. US is mixed in with UK
I ordered size 8.5. I needed a half size up from my normal 8 and I could not find that in any shop in the UK so I went online and Amazon had it. When they arrived they were size 8. What? A close inspection of the box revealed that the UK8 is America's 8.5 but the ordering box on the Amazon website made no distinction between UK and US sizing. It simply stated 8 and then 8.5. So now I had to decide whether to return or to keep so the next hour was spent making sure that the lacing was how I needed it to be to accommodate my wide feet while wearing thick socks and eventually I got there. I still have to do a serious hike in the weather that will put them to a real test but I do have better comfort for these than I have had from my previous walking shoes. Not perfect because I wanted 8.5 and 9 would have been too big, but certainly better. Now I will have to replace the laces. They are the round sort rather than flat and round ones always slip so have to be double-bowed. I know the manufacturer thinks this makes them easier to put on and fit snugly but in practice, it means they become loose too easily and get sucked off in the mud. That is really average terrain hiking in the UK. If it had not been for a gift card that had brought the price down for me on this purchase, I would have gone through the returns process. Good enough to keep and use but not my perfect pair of shoes and will not be buying them again unless they really do have a UK8.5wide.

Excelentes!!!
