I won't yuck your fish yum, but the stevia sweet is bad for me personally
The smell is kind of offensive, let's just get that straight off-the-bat 😂 Listen, I love seafood and diverse adventurous snacks as much as the next guy but the smell is a hurdle with this. It's a serious "fish flakes/food" aroma and wafts from afar if you have this zip seal ANY bit open. It's not horrible though and you get used to it, doesn't smell rotten to me at least.. just stronger than I'd expect.I am guessing this a feature of the calamari chips since the fish chips aren't this bad. I have tried the sesame/garlic flavor fish ones as well for comparison and I liked those better, however I won't doubt that these are up someone's alley. Also have to note that these has more saturated fat and a lot more cholesterol for some reason.Steviol glycosides are higher up on the list for these so maybe that's also contributing to my dislike, I am sensitive to stevia/artificial sweeteners. The curry wasn't great for me, a bit overpowering so it's 2 competing flavors. The calamari doesn't taste as fishy as it smells tbh. I am not sure if most of my dislike is of the weirdly strong and artificial SWEETNESS of this which in hindsight is definitely the stevia! Big negative.Don't get me wrong though, I do love the idea of these snacks though. The crunchiness and tempura batter is great, super filling. I just prefer the sesame/garlic flavor and the fish type to these tbh

Fun To Eat
I liked them but I wish the bag was bigger so I could share.

Okay Taste but Too Hard
There was an unpleasant overly fishy smell when I opened the bag. Fortunately, they don't really taste like that at all. They taste like the curry flavor they claimed to be, with a little kick but not super spicy. I'm not a big fan of the texture. They are very hard and hurt my mouth; it was similar to eating Captain Crunch without milk. The MSRP is also a deal breaker IMO. You don't get nearly enough in a bag to justify that cost. Sadly, these just aren't for me. Maybe they will be for you if none of the above sound like problems.

The smell is A LOT to handle
I actually enjoyed these chips, which have a sweet and salty, umami infused curry flavor. All the elements blend together surprisingly well for a crunchy treat. Unfortunately, I would have to move out in order to enjoy these. When I opened the bag, I was hit with a STRONG smell of fish… like salmon marinating in a dumpster in the summer heat. My wife was in the next room and started screaming and gagging shortly after I had a few bites. She was so upset with the offensive smell that I had to brush my teeth and wash my hands before I could walk into the same room as her. So while these chips taste pretty good, they aren’t worth the marital turmoil their aroma causes. If you live alone or with someone equally as food adventurous, these are a good option. If not I’d recommend trying them outside and downwind from others.

Delicious and a great curry powder flaked on top
If you are looking for a crispy snack with good flavor and a slightly salty tang this is going to be one you should try. The tempura is crispy like a chip, but I also love how the curry powder is flaked on top and you can taste it on every bite you have. It comes in a resealable bag which is amazing to help maintain freshness of your snack. Each of the little chips are already in a bite size that is easy to put into your mouth. Snacking on this can get a little bit messy as the dust flakes off the chips. I would say the chip is slightly saltier than I love, but if you drink it along coffee or tea that flavor mellows out.

Strong sugar alcohol aftertaste
I love seaweed tempura chips, and these Swashbuckle tempura calamari chips were in essence very similar. They were crispy and made with a tempura batter and fried and seasoned with lots of fish extracts for that deeply rich umami flavor. These chips are curry flavored, so there is a hint of curry powder but it is not spicy at all. However, my biggest complaint is that the aftertaste of sugar alcohols is really unpleasant and overpowering. It completely turned me off this bag of chips, so much so that I couldn't finish it. If they made a version using actual sugar, I think it would be better. But until they do I would definitely not recommend this product unless you enjoy the taste of sugar substitutes.

If they didn't use Stevia, this would be a perfect snack
Upon first biting into these, I thought I would really enjoy them! They have a really crispy crunch, and I like the savory calamari flavor and curry seasoning. Unfortunately as soon as you swallow you are left with the Stevia aftertaste in your mouth. I immediately knew there was some thing "off" and on my second bite I was able to identify that it was Stevia leaving such an unpleasant flavor ("Steviol glycoside") that totally coats your mouth on the aftertaste and just won't go away. There is sugar in this product as well, so I don't know why they felt the need to use it. It's completely unnecessary in my opinion, for a seafood snack chip to need that much sweetness. There's also a prop65 warning on the label for BPA, so you'll want to take note of that, if it is a concern for you.Such a shame they had to use such an off-putting ingredient for what I would write have otherwise considered a tasty snack. If they had advertised it as having stevia, I would not have purchased. If you are a fan of this sweetener, you will probably really like these chips.

Smelly and tastes like Curry
When I opened the bag of chips for the first time I was not prepared to be enveloped in its aroma. After letting the room air out, I was able to set my brain to recalculate and give the snacks a try.Taste 9/10:If you were expecting the taste of curry, guess what, you get the taste of curry. It tastes great if you like curry.Smell 5/10:The smell reaches out and kind of slaps you around. It smells like you would imagine, a bit fishy and a bit like curry. There is a lot of it at first, but it does calm down.
