The New Yorker Book of Dog Cartoons

Small pocket size book. lots of fun cartoons family shared and laughed at Christmas party

I love the New Yorker cartoons and if you love dogs, and especially if you live with them, then this is a book for you.That said, they do not have all the New Yorker dog cartoons, and they omitted some very funny ones. It is also a very small book and takes mere minutes to go through the entire book.

As always, The New Yorker publishes terrific collections of the cartoons from years past. This collection is just as meaningful, along with the Book of Cat Cartoons. And though both collections are extensive and hilarious, the printing quality from page to page can vary from good to not so good. The books themselves are also about the size of a CD jewel case. Pretty small for a $10 book printed in black and white, with the exception of the covers. But if you are a long-standing reader of The New Yorker as I am (more than 40 years now), you can forgive the rather steep price and simply enjoy the content. And since I have been clipping and collecting New Yorker cartoons for decades, I am always pleased to find a more concise and orderly collection.

Bought to put a smile on hubby's face. Cartoons are great but book and print are very small making it a bit difficult to read.

I gave it to a friend who liked the New Yorker and dogs. Wonderful present.

A wonderful gift for any dog lover, so you might as well get two - one to give, one to keep. If you're the kind of person who believes that your dog thinks or behaves like a human, you'll especially enjoy this collection.

I'm so disappointed in this book. I thought it would make a great gift for another dog lover friend of mine, one who is always sending me cute dog cartoons. But I thought I would pick up a used copy for myself first so I could actually read them. Perhaps I'm not sophisticated enough for the New Yorker brand of humor. Most of the cartoons contained in this book do not resonate with me at all. Perhaps I'm exceptionally slow, but some I don't even understand. I find very few of them at all funny. Some, seem to me, to be at the expense of dogs. I doubt if most of these are actually written and drawn by dog lovers; it feels more like insensitive people trying to appear witty. There is a fairly large variety in this book, so you might find something that you like. I found a couple. But overall, I found this collection extremely disappointing. I will not buy another copy for my friend, and do not recommend it. I was going to purchase the New Yorker book of cat cartoons, but am now rethinking that. Thumbs down on this book!

Estou estudando desenho e adquiri o exemplar para estudo. A versão é de bolso e precisarei usar lupa para ver os detalhes dos desenhos. Comprei outro junto e veio no tamanho normal de um livro. Achei que se tratava de uma coleção, então tinha a intenção de comprar outros exemplares. Mas diante da frustração não comprarei mais nenhum. E o pior é que não há informação sobre o formato da obra por parte do vendedor. Se tivesse não teria gastado meu dinheiro a toa.

If you like The New Yorker type of humour then you'll definitely love this book. I owned the hard cover edition which was published in 1995. 20 years and still in amazing condition.

I bought this as a gift, sight unseen, hoping it would appeal to my friend. It was a huge hit! My friend is a medical doctor with a life-time passion for dogs and the New Yorker. She said she was laughing the whole time reading it and has loaned it to some of her "doggie" friends.
