This bag is nice and sturdy material. It is not waterproof but should work fine for a smaller tool set. :)

Q: I needed small tool pouch to keep hand tools and also fit behind the seat of my truck. Is this small tool bag rugged for long lasting use?

Well, I have been asked many questions regarding this particular pouch over the years- It is not as "Small" as described- More Like Meduim Size: 10 inches long-4.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches thick(they call it high). It would work excellently as a reasonable tool holder/pouch. I personally have a small set of metric tools and plug socket and 3/8 ratchet which I keep in my outboard bass boat. I can also put it under the seat of my pickup truck. Size measurement here will tell you- measure clearance under seat. Lastly, these are not 100% water tight, I would scotchgard the exterior hanging from clothes line outside if warm enough or hanging form shower curtain rod in bathtub. It should "dry" for 12-18 hours-aka overnight. Then place tools in Gallon size ziploc freezer bag, then roll up and place inside pouch. Be sure to pack some cleaning wipes, Baby wipes or what ever your flavor in a Qt size ziploc freezer strength bag. Safe travels!

It would be a bit overkill for a pencil box. I use it as a small tool box I keep in my Wrangler.
