Useful for quick plant reference
This RHS handbook for amateur gardeners I refer to frequently having found ourselves inheriting a small but mature garden with the usual unfamilar unnamed plants/ shrubs. It is set out in alphabetical order rather than seasonal and includes a good set of photographs with instructions at the bottom of each. Would recommend.

Good Read for the Plantsman (or woman)
I like this little volume because it is full of detailed information on hundreds of garden plants. I downgraded it one star however because so many of the entries are for currently popular 'trend' plants, and the more tried-and-true varieties that are of interest to this traditional cottage garden enthusiast are absent. So it's less useful than I had hoped, but for those designing or expanding a contemporary garden, I can see it would be extremely useful.

Full of very useful information
Like the listings at the back which gives guidance on what can grow where. Youcan then refer back to the main sections for a photo! It's really helpful

I tried before I buyed...
I have to admit I'm writing the review before buying. Just been to the garden centre, needed to look up a plant and this was on the shelf. Not huge amounts of info on each plant, but plenty to help you make a decision on the plant's suitability. The book is a perfect (large) handbag size to take with me on future plant purchasing trips. Now I'm going to push the button to buy my copy!
