Salted Paper Printing: A Step-by-Step Manual Highlighting Contemporary Artists (Contemporary Practices in Alternative Process Photography)

This book is exactly what I expected. It is very complete and is very informative about the Salt print process.

The book was perfect and since I used Prime it arrived right on time.

I'm surprised this doesn't have a substantive Amazon review yet, so here's mine:Christina Z. Anderson's books on historic/alternative printing processes are unparalleled (her Gum Printing and Cyanotype books are also fantastic). Not only is she a world expert in the processes that she documents, she also has learned from years of teaching students at Montana State University and collaborating with other expert printers worldwide. This helps her witness many beginner mistakes as well as many innovations and insights. Her writing style is informative and relatable in sharing that info.This book is incredibly thorough in covering the salt print process and extensive variations on it. It has a chapter to get you started quickly, then follows up with details on how each step can be tuned for different printing characteristics, different papers, etc. The multiple salt-size options were quite useful. The hybrid processes are intriguing, but I haven't delved into them yet. It is helpful also to see different artists and their works in he second section of the book. I've also read Mhrar's book (which is also good for a beginner but doesn't get as broad or deep) and Reilly's, but I'd recommend Anderson's at the top of this pile.If the Amazon paperback price is making you hesitate, check the publisher's website. They often have discounts. The book will save you enough silver nitrate to pay for itself in just a few weeks or months, so don't hesitae.

When looking at the preview given, it is all in color. However, upon receiving the book, it is in black and white. While the book is very informational, only so much can be done when all of the images I am looking at that demonstrate various results, are all in black and white and they hardly look different from one another (referring to figures 0.1-0.4). I would think that when paying so much for this book, it would be in color.ETA- contacted author. And something is definitely up with this copy. Whether it was a printer issue or somebody is reprinting and selling the book, idk. So this will be going back and will be buying through Routledge instead.

Lots of photos of but not so good at instrucition .. best go to Google to learn how to do it.

this is the bible for salted paper printing, Christina did it again after her gum bible she has written the salted paper bible, this is an historical, a how to do and problem solving source, all you have to know about salted paper printing for the beginner and all salted paper printer; thanks Christina; this is a must have!

This now the standard work on the subject. A brilliant exposition of the process, and the most valuable textbook that can be found on contemporary methods of using this process. Unmatchable.
