With the trend moving towards granulation in the watercolor world, I found that paint manufacturers were charging way too much for granulating paints - especially those in tubes. The paint separates and it is difficult to get the balance of paint, granulation and binder in the tubes, and for the price - phew - my pocketbook was screaming. i love, love, love white nights watercolors & have been wanting granulating wc without spending a fortune on them. i usually buy tubes or pans of colors i like rather than set but decided to get a set or two, i actually wanted all three sets then on closer look saw the best choice for me was the two smaller sets. instead of 21 colors in one tin pallet i got 23 colors ( one color comes in both small sets) in plastic pallets (i prefer tins but i have lots of extra tins, but i kinda like these new white night plastic pallets so gonna give them a go). all of the colors from one of the sets i got come in this 21 pan set but only 8 from the set i was most intrigued (granulated & natural earth) with come with it. with one color being in all three sets that leaves 2 colors that are unique to this set alone, i may find them later in single pans or tubes but i do not feel i need them with all the colors i have for the same price. if your curious which of the unique colors do not come in either of the small set but are in the 21 pan set they are orange mist & blue mist. hope that all helps you to make up your mind of which set or sets of white nights granulated sets you would like to chose. happy painting all.
