This is the third pair of scout activity trousers I have purchased. We bought the first pair for scouts, and the second two for every day use as my son says they are the most comfortable trousers he owns. He is quite particular about what he wears. The material is soft and smooth, the cut is ideal for a very active boy and the waist band is very adjustable so you can get a comfortable fit... and have plenty of room to grow. The length is generous, and can easily be hemmed or tacked up with a bit of wonder web, but my son wears these army style, with an elastic and tucked over the boots.These trousers are ideal for three season use as they are. For camping , or hiking in winter, the generous cut leaves enough room for a pair of thermals underneath, while still allowing full freedom of movement.There is no outside labelling identifying these as a Scouting item, so they could easily be worn by children who do not take part in scouting as well, and after quite sometime searching, I found these the be the best bargain for such a high quality pair of combats, hence the purchase of additional pairs for everyday use.As an added bonus, purchasing official scouting items does contribute a small amount of money to a very valuable organisation that really transforms many young lives.

Be warned, these are enormous compared to the stated ages! My son is 50th percentile height and weight and aged 7, and the 7-8 size are 12cm too long and just about adjust to be small enough to sit on his hips... with the crotch hanging 10cm lower than it should be. Even if he was 8 these would still be massive - the sizing is just plain wrong. Suggest you order down a size unless you are handy with a sewing machine or needle and thread. Good quality though... hence the 3 stars

Very good quality - with all the pockets a little Beaver or Scout could need. The back pocket has a zip covered by a velcro flap, which his useful to keep change safe change. The leg length is VERY long. I'm 5'8 and they are nearly long enough for me. But you can always roll up or sew up and extend as they grow - so not a problem for me. They also have the button and elastic type adjuster in the waist, so also adaptable.

All ok quality-wise but getting a waist to fit means quite short legs!
