Great gift idea
Great gift for my niece, she has just started getting into water colours. Perfect for beginners and she enjoys having a large sketch book to create her paintings.

Good!
Thick paper, no bleed and decent value for money. Reviewed as an art student (teenager doing GCSE art right now).

Much like my artist capabilities - work needed
At first glance, the pad appeared somewhat flimsy, lacking a sense of high quality. However, happily the actual paper quality turned out to be decent. The pad could benefit from having more pages.Getting a clean tear is impossible so scissors are required.

‘Watercolour’ Paper Pad – Slightly Thinner Paper Than Expected & Best for Dry Mediums
This watercolour paper pad arrived in a plastic bag to protect it during transit and is A4 in size (210mm x 297mm). The sketchbook is bound with a metal spiral so it is easy to tear out pages from the pad and contains 30 pages in total. The spiral binding does mean that you can keep them in the pad or choose to tear them out if required, although there isn’t a perforation that makes this neat. The paper itself is acid free (ideal for longevity as it shouldn’t degrade over time) and cold pressed with a fine ‘fuzzy’ grain texture. On one side the texture is smooth which is ideal for drawing in pencil, ink and charcoal whilst the other side has a textured finish which absorbs pigments well, ideal for paints such as gouache and oils which are less ‘wet’.I am no expert and paint as a hobby rather than professionally, but I would say that the paper has a weight of approximately 190gsm (although it doesn’t actually say on the pad anywhere), so it is a reasonable thickness but isn’t the thickest. This being said I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the pad for watercolours as you would normally expect a weight of around 300gsm for this application. If you do want to use it for watercolours, I would recommend limited use of water on the paper to avoid warping.Priced at £7.99 (with an additional 10% off voucher valid until the 1st December 2023) at the time of reviewing, this is a relatively cheap watercolour pad in the scheme of art papers (and definitely not professional), but I think that the quality of the paper is reasonable in the scheme of things and would be great for budding artists, particularly if using for drawing, sketching or dry mediums.

Brilliant
Actually really good watercolour paper. It's Acid free and has that nice rough finish. I can't tell you what the GSM is but it's thick enough for painting, inking, sketching or whatever. It's spiral bound but doesn't have perforations at the top unfortunately so you'll need to tear and cut if you want a straight edge. Overall though, I'm very happy with this, it's great quality paper and feels good to draw or paint on. At £7.99 for 30 sheets it's a reasonable price but the 25% voucher makes it very worth while in my opinion.

Excellent paper
Really nice watercolour painting paper, in a nice ring bound pad that you can tear sheets out of.Good quality, and the paint takes to it well.My only criticism is that, once pulled out, the perforated edge of the paper does not tear off.
