Health vitals unstable or unavailable when moving. Not a sport watch. Limited usability.
I knew this wasn't a smartwatch before I bought it: no text messages, no weather reports and can't answer the phone. No other apps and no "sport" function other than counting steps and calories. That is fine for me. I just wanted a device with accurate and useful vitals. It misses on both counts.- The Pulse Rate measurement shoots up with sudden motion (i.e. stand up and start walking) and stays there for a couple of minutes. (Over 180's. I even got a 224 metric. I'm 60 years old, so that's a physical impossibility. Plus, I wore my Apple iWatch on the other wrist and that showed the correct PR). A firmware update mitigated these anomalies to 140-150's for a few seconds but this still messes up historic averages. Same thing with the PRV.- The oximeter and its other associated metrics only work when perfectly still. Otherwise, their displayed "dial" is blank (see pictures)- The claim that it "...continuously tracks your physiological data..." is true only if you don't move.- Their product info says that the included one-year "basic-subscritpion" includes "...In-app insights into your health trends, ...., in-depth health reports, and more...". There are no insights, only a daily graph of each metric. It's up to you to understand what a high PVi means, for example. The "...in-depth health reports..." are only available if you buy their "Advanced" membership for $189/yr. and only as a PDF file sent over email (as stated in their website and from interacting with their customer support: info that differs to what they claim on their Amazon entry).- Your health data is only available as a graph displayed on the app and stored on their cloud server. Nothing resides on your phone. There's no access to a data file to assess changes in health over time. If you stop paying their "membership", you lose access to your data and the graphs, and you'd be getting only spot measurements.- Their server is not always available (see picture).- Their customer support is prompt and amiable, responding the same day. But the best support in the world does not make up for a poor consumer product. Masimo has a good reputation for medical devices. This entry into the consumer market completely misses the mark.

Incredible smart watch, an athlete's dream!
Hubs, after a bit of a haitus, has been training for a marathon and this watch helps him monitor all of his activity and health data and gives us both peace of mind that he will successfully complete the training and the race without any issues. The watch is well designed and very easy to operate. Its display is easy to customize and navigate and the data is accurate. The app is perfect and lets him track his progress. He is very happy with it and so am I!

Accurate but inconvenient
PROs: Good looking. Comfortable watch band. Good biometric data including O2 level and hydration index.CONs: Lack of common smartwatch features including GPS, notifications, workout tracking, etc. necessitate wearing two watches if I want to track workouts and fitness while wearing the Masimo. Clunky syncing with phone (kept getting disconnected and would not easily resync). Poor battery life. Poor charger design in that the watch easily falls off the charger when slightly nudged.Overall it's a really great looking watch, it doesn't need to be a smartwatch with a ton of bulky apps either, but an option to sync with smartphone for basic notifications and gps for tracking workouts would make it infinitely more useful. As it is, it doesn't give you an easy way to utilize any of the biometric data it is pulling, so it really falls flat. It's very accurate and if there were just a handful of minor added convenience features and upgraded battery life, it would be very useful. Alternatively, including a band so that it can be worn around the leg or upper arm so that a regular fitness or smartwatch can be worn on the wrist without needing to double-watch it would make it fine as a biometric tracker alone.

Too expensive, but has some nice features
I've been a long time Apple Watch user. A huge part of me wearing the watch is due to the health features it provides. The older I get, the more my body doesn't like to work like it used to, so there are some specific things I've begun tracking.Masimo's entry into the watch market isn't really a big surprise. They've been in the medical industry for sometime, and something like this certainly makes sense to be a part of their product line--to some extent. The watch comes in long packaging, similar to how Apple does theirs. Not quite as fancy as Apple's, but it gets the job done. After opening the box, you're presented with the watch, band, charger, etc. I can't say the materials its made with feel very premium, especially compared to my Apple Watch Ultra. I've gotten some cheaper smart watches for my kids, and while this is better than that, it is closer to that feel in comparison to my Apple Watch. The setup process is pretty straightforward, and the watch faces look pretty good. There aren't a lot of them, only 8. It has features like an always on display. It has other nice health features as well, but they are pretty standard with most smart watches these days. Masimo claims their metrics are better, which I don't know exactly. In comparison to my Apple Watch, it seems to perform pretty similarly. I don't have advanced medical equipment available to really know how it compares, but it seems to work. After using the product for about a week, I found battery life to be pretty comparable to my Apple Watch, unless you turned on the always on display. This thing died within half a day. I still needed to charge it almost daily in order to have continued use.It is pretty obvious this is a 1.0 product. I imagine Masimo will improve the software with time, but it is a little laggy at times navigating. I had it crash on me a couple times, but, overall, it does work. I imagine as they get more updates out, it will be a pretty competitive product..Would I pay nearly $600 for it? Probably not. You can get an Apple Watch Ultra for about that price, and it will perform better in almost every way that I can tell. Masimo doesn't include other features like text forwarding, etc that you've probably come to expect on other smart watches too. Perhaps in the future, but with an iOS phone, only so much you can do in comparison.I'd say this is certainly worth a look if you want health features like this from a company that specializes in medical equipment, but with the money being thrown at smart watches by larger corporations by Apple, I'm not sure how successful Masimo will be with this product.
