great tool for pilotless stoves too.
I was a little hesitant to order this for our old 8 burner stove with 2 ovens as the reviews were all about using it with a torch with only one iffy mention of using it to light a pilot-less stove. We have gone through so many disposable lighters that it was beginning to annoy me, the waste, the plastic etc and I thought of my old science class bunsen burner lighters so I took a chance. I am thrilled to say that not only do they make great sparks, enough to catch the stove but Red Dragon seems to spark effortlessly. A lot smoother and more efficient than I remember from the lighters in my science class days. While I've only had it for a week now I think I can wholeheartedly endorse this product for anyone in a similar boat looking to lower their carbon footprint and have some fun in the process.

Not that useful for a counter top range
The igniters have decided to quit after 10 years on my Jenn-Air counter top range and the cost of replacing them and the associated electronics is in the hundreds of dollars. Instead of matches, I thought I'd buy these nifty manual igniters, save money, be "green", etc. Unfortunately, it is often a race as to whether I can produce the proper spark to ignite the burner or blow the house up as the unburned gas pours into the kitchen. This excitement keeps food preparation from being dull, for certain, but I had hoped for a little bit easier time of it. I do think the igniter with the extra flints will last a lifetime-I'm not sure if that is good or bad...they would be the perfect igniter for a propane torch, though.

not as reliable as I would have hoped
doesn't spark up on the first or 2nd try very often. Sometimes i have to get to 5 or 6 to generate a spark and mine is new. I have some back up flints, but I would have expected this to be more functional and reliable. You definitely have to keep at it sometimes.

A must have for blackouts that really works well!
These things are great to have around when pilot lights go out or the electric is off and you want to start a gas oven. This particular one is easy enough for a delicate flower like me to get the sparks I need. I've had others that really take a lot of work and use up the flints. If this Winter turns out like last year, we will be using it.This will last a very long time too, because it does come with extra flints.

Nice to use
Nice to use. Wish I had gotten a longer reach (I use for igniting a flame weeder). Great idea for those who want to cut down on buying plastic products that use lighter fluid.

Not exactly what I ordered, but works fine.
The sparker they sent me works well, however, I thought I was ordering a square one and they sent a round one. I don't know enough about sparkers to know why I would have wanted a square one, but it appeared sturdier and a little more expensive than the round ones I saw online, and I specifically chose the square one. So, I was disappointed that they didn't send me what I ordered; however, the sparker works fine so far, so I can't really complain.

Works great.
The ignition system for the burners on my gas stove died so thought I'd just use a spark lighter instead. This product work great, does just what it's supposed to do, only takes one hand to operate and is very compact. It's a good value for the price, too.

Safe way to light your torch!
Big sparks! So much better than the sparker that came with my back yard torch. This gets the job done and doesn't put your hand at risk (if used correctly). My only concern is keeping track of the extra flints until you need them.
