Good for kids reading
Good price vs quality. Easy to read and to discuss with my child. Helps to talk through feeling and emotions. I used with my son and his 9y and definitely a good help.

A great detailed and well laid out book
This book is really quite good. It's written with lots of detail and is probably for ages 8+. Some of the language is a little bit adult and you may need to help an under 11-year-old with some of the words if they're reading on their own, however very worthwhile read for any child who is dealing with emotions or worries. It is organised in sections with each emotion described with examples and some reasons why these emotions happen as well as quiz to understand if you have a tendancy to feel this emotion or not. My nine-year-old really enjoyed the quizzes and it provides a point of discussion and also opened my eyes to what she is actually worried about and wants to know more about. Unfortunately for me it's boys and emotions surrounding your feelings for them. I really like that on the cover page of each chapter for each emotion that there are lots and lots of different words to describe the emotion so while your child may not understand 'disgust' as an emotion, he or she will pick up another word and understand. I think this is going to really help my nine-year-old and also for me to understand her a bit better. I recommend this!

There are not many illustrations/drawings so my son tends to switch off - there are other books with illustrations/drawings/activities that are more engaging for kids. To be honest, I reach for other books rather than this one because the text looks so dense and time-consuming.On the plus side, the book has useful points/advice for adults/parents or kids who will persevere with all the text. The grouping of emotions into chapter themes is useful for understanding how feelings are related or have particular origins - Feeling self-conscious; feeling threatened; feeling gloomy; feeling elated; feeling stormy. There is also a handy list of vocab for different moods at the start of each chapter and a checklist activity which can be fun/interesting to do, e.g. what is your motivational style.

A little young for my ten year old, but a useful tool to break the ice with a counsellor to help explain your child's views and feelings. The book is quite interractive, so child can fill in their personal data. Anything that helps a troubled child communicate is worthwhile, and I think this one is particularly good.
